Waffles: In a PV foster & looking for a loving home

PEACE Animals spay & neuter clinics are a key to the work being done in the Puerto Vallarta area to end the suffering of animals. These mobile clinics are on the front lines each week going into the communities where help is needed with not only the medical services provided, but also education. We are big supporters of this group, and are so amazed by the work they do. Yesterday during a clinic in El Palmar Del Progresso, a dog wandered into the clinic and went straight into a crate. Animals are amazingly smart. This sweet girl was in trouble, needed help and found people that she hoped would do something for her. She was 100% correct. Maria was volunteering at the clinic so she asked one person who asked another person and before you knew it, Waffles had a new foster home and became a MexPup. Waffles definitely needs our help. It is easy to see in the photos that she is suffering from mange. Thankfully it is the non-contagious type, but she still has extremely swollen feet and cracks in the skin all over her body. She is alert and has clear eyes, but is extremely weak. Throughout the entire process and while meeting lots of new people, this sweet pup continued to try and wag her tail. She was so happy to be rescued, to be safe and to have people caring for her. Waffles is about 1.5 years old and weighs 17 kilos. She will remain at the vets for a few days until stable and then will continue her recovery in a foster home. Please consider helping Waffles by making a donation to her care: in Canada via etransfer to Karen@mexpup.com , in Puerto Vallarta donations can be made directly at Mascotas Vet Clinic with Dr. Manuel or Sabuesos Vet Clinic with Dr. Paco, in the US and other location via our paypal link which can be found at www.mexpup.com. This lovely girl deserves a chance at a great life. Please help us to make that possible.
Update February 2017: Waffles is doing great in her PV foster home. She is happy, healthy and ready for adoption. Waffles does ok with some dogs, but she should be the only pet in her forever home (no dogs or cats). We think she would do best with an experienced, confident owner. She is a great dog, but is an alpha so needs guidance & leadership. We are so happy that her recovery has gone so well and now were excited for her to find a family to call her own!

Simba: Application pending![]() Meet Simba! This sweet boy had a family and a flight booked and just a few days before his flight they backed out. We have received many inquiries for him but when we pursue them no one replies which we are so confused about as this boy is truly a treat and will bring so much happiness to whoever ends up adopting him. Simba is a 59 pound, 2 year old golden retriever mix. He was rescued from the street, we found him wandering outside a Costco. He was thin and had parasites. He has since received treatment and been put on a meal plan to gain weight. He is doing much better now! Simba has been described as a sweet, docile boy. He has been doing great with both on leash and off leash training. He is super affectionate to everyone he meets at the shelter including strangers and children. Simba loves playing with other dogs but we have noticed that he tends to be a bit too much for SOME larger male dogs, he loves to play like he is a puppy and is super goofy - some of our larger male dogs sense his passiveness and pick on him and bully him with literally no instigation from Simba whatsoever! Not all of our males as some of the large males do still enjoy playing with him but there are a couple who are a little more dominant that try and push him around but he doesnt give them any pushback so we hope to get him moving soon so he can be in a happier environment. Therefore we think that a home with larger female dogs, or a passive male or any gender small dog is best suited for him. He loves small dogs and is such a gentle player with them never taking it too far. He loves playing with larger females too and his best friend is our husky girl Deysi. He knows his size and acts accordingly. He has not been exposed to cats so a cat free household would be best just due to his excitability. Simba has a medium to high energy level, an ideal home for him would have a large yard or space for him to run around in. He deserves a family that can provide him with the daily exercise he will need and will bring him along on all of their adventures. He would also do really well with children in the home. If you are looking for an adventure buddy then this beautiful golden boy may be the companion for you. Simba can be on our next flight into BC once an adoptive home is found Adoption fee covers neuter, vaccines, flight and full vetting

Kira: Application pending![]() Meet Kira !
A gorgeous 3 year old, husky, white shepherd mix of sorts. Kira was being kept on a persons patio and was being neglected, laying out in the hot son in mexico - no place for a dog with as much fur as her ! She was skinny and dirty, but once Nayeli and her team took Kira into care she started to get healthy and blossom into the beautiful dog she is. Kira is an amazing dog. She loves people and very happily greets strangers who come to the shelter she is in. She also interacts with children daily as young as aged 3 and is sweet although sometimes forgets her size so kids a little older may be a better option. Kira does well on walks, and is an extremely intelligent dog. She has no food, toy or sleeping area possession or aggression. If she really loves a person she may get a little jealous if other dogs come to get attention while she is getting it but she does not fight she just gives them a little snap to tell them off. This can be corrected. She is a very loyal dog. Kira LOVES attention so much that sometimes when you arent giving it to her she will give you little love bites on your butt as her "fun game" of getting you to focus on her. She walks well and leash, she may pull a little sometimes but things like an easy walk harness can help correct that. Kira loves car rides and LOVES water. As any husky/ shepherd type dogs, Kira has energy, so she would be happiest in an active family, and a family who has a yard she can run and entertain herself in while they are busy. She currently lives with over 50 other dogs and would be happy with other dogs, although she would also likely do fine alone if she had lots of attention from her people ! Whoever adopts Kira will be showered with love and loyalty from this beautiful and special girl. Kira can be on a flight into Vancouver once an adoptive home is found. Her adoption fee is $450 and it includes her flight, spay, vaccines, full vet testing. Please email cass@mexpup.com or apply on mexpup.com if you are interested in bringing Kira into your home ! Paris: application pending![]() Meet Paris! Paris is a 7 month old, Siberian husky mix, currently weighing around 44 pounds. Paris was rescued from her previous owner. She received treatment for parasites and ticks and is doing much better now. She will likely be a medium - large sized dog and need daily exercise. Paris has been described as a sweet, docile girl. She has been doing great with both her on-leash and off-leash training. She loves to greet everyone that comes into her home, strangers say she is a very calm, loving dog. Paris currently has 24/7 access to the outdoors, therefore her new family would need to establish the bathroom areas in her new home. She has not been exposed to cats, however given her calm demeanour this could be a possibility. Paris would do best in a family with little ones as she loves to be around children. A home with a big garden or space for her to run around in would be ideal. Another dog in the family would also be a bonus for this girl as she gets along with everyone. This beautiful girl will no doubt be a loyal companion to you forever. She deserves a home where she will receive the same love she gives to everyone, and a family who will include her on their adventures. She can be on a flight into Vancouver within the month if an adoptive home is found. Adoption fee covers spay, vaccines, flight and full vetting Please inquire or submit an application on mexpup.com if interested
Deysi: application pending![]() Meet Deysi ! A stunning 2 year old 45 pound husky. This stunner is living in hot hot Mexico and has the opportunity to fly to Calgary or Vancouver depending on where she can find a home. She is dying to head up North somewhere colder where she can have cold winters and she is hoping there is a home who is looking for a sweet and active girl. Deysi was found by Yvonne’s team hungry and scavenging for food in the street. This girl loves people, she will greet whoever comes into the shelter with hugs and kisses. She is not a shy girl. Deysi interacts with 3 children daily ages 2, 8 and 11. She is great with them but does like to jump up for hugs so the only thing we would say is she may knock a non dog savvy kid over, but purely with love. Deysi lives with 92 other dogs of all ages and sizes and gets along with everyone. Cats are unknown. This little miss is active. She needs a family who will both physically and mentally stimulate her. She is a working breed after all. She is a chewer and will find shoes left around as well as will destroy a stuffy toy like her life depends on it. Deysi will bark at dogs she doesnt know on walks. Not aggressively, as we said she lives with lots of dogs and is friends with them all, but she will need her owner to work on correcting her excitement of seeing other dogs that she doesn't know. She’s just a sassy girl who’s got something to say ! Nayeli one of the workers at Yvonne’s rescue said: “Deysi has a lot of energy, wants to go running, likes to play with a ball or other object that can be thrown at them, when she goes in the car and sees people or dogs, she barks at them, she is very affectionate with the people she knows and those she does not know, she approaches to smell them and later he wants hugs. When people enter the house she will bark to attract attention because she wants pets.” Deysie would prefer a home where her people aren't gone for too long or where her people can get her nice and tired before they leave as when people leave she pulls the husky card and will speak and howl. Deysi is careful with small kids but does love to play so kids over 8 may be a best bet however not a dealbreaker for a dog savvy family, or better yet a husky savvy family ! She only does her business on the patio but has constant access so in a new home may need some reminding. Deysi would love a family with a place where she can go running, where she has young people or teenagers and also people that take her to explore and travel. She likes to eat a lot. This girl wants a lot of love, she is a noble and intelligent dog, she adapts well and Nayeli wants people to know just to give her time to meet new places and people. Deysi is healthy, spayed, vaccinated and fully vet tested. Her adoption fee of $450 covers everything including flight. If interested please either inquire or submit an application on Mexpup.com
