<channel><title><![CDATA[MexPup - MexPup\'s Blog]]></title><link><![CDATA[https://www.mexpup.com/mexpups-blog]]></link><description><![CDATA[MexPup\'s Blog]]></description><pubDate>Fri, 06 Mar 2026 02:00:14 -0800</pubDate><generator>Weebly</generator><item><title><![CDATA[Kira - Wow!  What a weekend!]]></title><link><![CDATA[https://www.mexpup.com/mexpups-blog/kira-wow-what-a-weekend]]></link><comments><![CDATA[https://www.mexpup.com/mexpups-blog/kira-wow-what-a-weekend#comments]]></comments><pubDate>Tue, 26 Jun 2012 04:18:07 GMT</pubDate><category><![CDATA[dogs]]></category><guid isPermaLink="false">https://www.mexpup.com/mexpups-blog/kira-wow-what-a-weekend</guid><description><![CDATA[ Saturday's travel day started out just as any other. &nbsp;Guardian Angel and MexPup's leading lady Patty headed north with 3 pups, Patches, Jerry and Kira. &nbsp;Unfortunately, during a stopover in San Francisco, the worst thing possible happened. &nbsp;When the flight crew opened the hold to remove the luggage, out popped Kira and off she ran! &nbsp;The airport personal held flights and diverted them to a different runway while she was being pursued.&nbsp; She made it to the far part of the a [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<span class='imgPusher' style='float:left;height:0px'></span><span style='float:left;z-index:10;position:relative;;clear:left;margin-top:0px;*margin-top:0px'><a><img src="https://www.mexpup.com/uploads/7/4/5/6/7456287/2736948.jpg" style="margin-top: 5px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 10px; border-width:1px;padding:3px;" alt="Picture" class="galleryImageBorder" /></a><div style="display: block; font-size: 90%; margin-top: -10px; margin-bottom: 10px; text-align: center;"></div></span> <div class="paragraph" style='text-align:justify;display:block;'>Saturday's travel day started out just as any other. &nbsp;Guardian Angel and MexPup's leading lady Patty headed north with 3 pups, Patches, Jerry and Kira. &nbsp;Unfortunately, during a stopover in San Francisco, the worst thing possible happened. &nbsp;When the flight crew opened the hold to remove the luggage, out popped Kira and off she ran! &nbsp;<div><br></div><div id="anonymous_element_6">The airport personal held flights and diverted them to a different runway while she was being pursued.&nbsp; She made it to the far part of the airport and &nbsp;found a tiny slit in an entrance gate. &nbsp; At that point, she was no longer contained on airport property.&nbsp; Alaska, airport police and airport security operations continued to look for her, but she was no longer in the contained area of the airport grounds. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<div id="anonymous_element_4"><span style=""></span><br style=""><span style=""></span>A <font size="4"><b>BIG</b></font> thanks to Alaska Airlines.&nbsp; They had numerous people working on this, they never left Patty's side while she was still at SFO, and they offered to help in so many ways. &nbsp;They never thought Kira was &ldquo;just a dog&rdquo;.&nbsp; Their staff took out personal cars and searched the area and the service road both Saturday evening and Sunday. &nbsp;Kira was important to them and they cared. &nbsp;Although Patty had to continue on her travels with the other two pups, Alaska Airlines kept up the search for Kira and kept the communication going with with Patty and other MexPuppers in both BC and Puerto Vallarta.&nbsp;</div><div id="anonymous_element_4"><br></div><div id="anonymous_element_4">In comes social media... thanks to a post on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Xolo-Rescue-League/103402566388895" target="_blank" title="">Xolo Rescue League</a>'s facebook page, a wonderful&nbsp;gal named Dayna saw a the post &amp; sent MexPup a message right away. &nbsp;A dog that looked an awful lot like Kira was brought into <a href="http://www.peninsulahumanesociety.org/" target="_blank" title="">Peninsula Humane Society</a> on Sunday! &nbsp;We had to wait until this morning to confirm, but sure enough it was her! &nbsp;Someone found her near a marsh in behind the airport &amp; brought her in. Raicilla needs an operation for her hip because of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. The vet is going to do everything possible to help keep the costs down, but we expect a $1,000 to $1,300 bill for this surgery. If you would consider making a donation for Raicilla's surgery or participating in any MexPup fundraiser, we would really appreciate it. She needs our help and we want to be there for her. MexPup was officially launched in June of 2011.&nbsp; Since that time, we have rescued and placed 26 abused, abandoned and unwanted dogs, so as you can understand, we have spent the first few months running.&nbsp; We are barely staying stay ahead of the need and still trying to get better organized so that we can do more.&nbsp; There always are more dogs in need, but we have been blessed with the amount of support that we have received, and we continue to make a differen [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div  class="paragraph editable-text">Our first blog post..... MexPup was officially launched in June of 2011.&nbsp; Since that time, we have rescued and placed 26 abused, abandoned and unwanted dogs, so as you can understand, we have spent the first few months running.&nbsp; We are barely staying stay ahead of the need and still trying to get better organized so that we can do more.&nbsp; There always are more dogs in need, but we have been blessed with the amount of support that we have received, and we continue to make a difference.&nbsp; We were hopeful in the beginning, but we didn&rsquo;t have any idea just how many people cared &amp; were willing to help us to make a difference for the street animals of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.&nbsp; MexPup is the sum of all of you that care, share our page, donate, volunteer, stop to help animals and do what you can to make a difference.&nbsp; I have met the most wonderful people in the past few months &amp; know that I will continue to meet more.&nbsp; Humans that care about animal rescue are amazing, wonderful, caring, thoughtful, funny &amp; interesting people.&nbsp; We are grateful for everyone&rsquo;s support &amp; continue to hope for a world with no homeless animals.<br /><span></span><br /><span></span></div>  ]]></content:encoded></item></channel></rss>
