Forever In Our Hearts 2020-2025
|
Our Forever In Our Hearts pages are dedicated to the many wonderful pups who were rescued by MexPup, found their forever homes, and have now crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Some of them may not have been with us for very long, but they have touched our hearts and brought us so much joy and love. We will remember them always!
The Rainbow Bridge Poem describes a mythical place where pets go after death to await reunion with their owners, free from pain and suffering, and playing in a beautiful, eternal meadow until their person arrives to cross the bridge with them. If your pup has crossed over the rainbow bridge and they do not yet have an entry, please send an email along with photos to [email protected]

"By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, ...When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together." |

RIP Mitzy - December 2025
Mitzy was one of our founder's (Karen's) MexPups. Mitzy was deaf and we quickly realized that she needed a family with another dog to help her navigate life so it wasn't so scary. She met her special person Megan while at doggie daycare in Langford. Mitzy, was always sweet, always gentle and loving. Megan felt the connection pretty quickly. In January 2017 she joined her family and a wonderful life full of adventures. Mitzy gained her wings at the end of 2025. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Mitzy. |

RIP Maggy - December 22, 2025
Maggy came to us as a foster in late February 2012. “Foster” lasted only a week because I knew she was my girl. We spent 13 years together and it wasn't long enough. She spent her life very loved and was my constant companion and shadow. She loved her walks, Christmas trees, and hunting lizards but loved her family the most. She was the sweetest girl and had the most gentle soul. She was loved by everyone that knew her. Maggy was diagnosed with kidney disease in March 2024 and as much as she tried, her body just couldn't fight it anymore. Maggy passed away Dec 22, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Maggy is very, very missed by her dog brother Willy, her cat Harry, and her heartbroken humans. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Maggie. |

RIP Bendito - November 20, 2025
Today we lost our best friend Bendito. Bendito was with us from November 26, 2011, to November 20, 2025. We fell in love with him through his adoption pictures. He lived a very casual, very loved life and he lived a very long life for a dog his size, we are told. He was treasured. He developed cancer very late and it was very aggressive, so we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go. We didn't want him to be in any more pain. He had a T-Bone steak, lots of treats, and lots of lovin' on his last day (and lots of lovin' every day before the last). We are forever grateful to Mexpup for giving us the opportunity to have him for our best friend. He will truly be in our hearts forever. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Bendito. |

RIP Bear - September 24, 2025
A message from his dad: This is the most difficult post to write. It’s with great sadness that we tell people our beautiful boy Bear crossed the rainbow bridge this past wends night. He was a blessing in my life and this has been earth shattering. I couldn’t have asked for a more loyal, loving, friendly and caring companion. Although his time here was short. He touched so many lives and people. He will be greatly missed and I’ll be grieving his loss for a long time to come. I love you Care Bear. Run free until we see each other again. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Bear. |

RIP Mindy - August 2025
We want to let you know that our MexPup Mindy has crossed the rainbow bridge. She had the most amazing life with us for 10 years. She brought smiles and so much love to us every single day she is no longer suffering and watching over all of. Thank you for what MexPup does and giving us ten of the most loving years ever. A big thank you to her rescuers Carolyn and Alain for taking the first step to change her life. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Mindy. |

RIP Loopy - August 30, 2025

Rest easy bonita babe! xoxo See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Loopy. |

RIP CLEO(patra) - August 11, 2025
Cleo lived an amazing life in Vancouver. She was healthy and happy almost her whole life and was truly one of a kind. Cleo was a bit aloof and goofy, loved the outdoors, and somehow even loved going to the vet every December for her annual check-up! She was a familiar face to many local business owners in the West End and Yaletown, and a quiet helper in my psychotherapy practice, where she brought calm and comfort to clients just by being near. In her final months, she was diagnosed with cancer. It was a hard decision but I decided to focus on keeping her comfortable. She spent her last summer at my parents’ home in Chilliwack, lounging in the sun in their yard most of the day, and curling up in her favourite “spot” every evening. It was a peaceful goodbye. Cleo was my best friend for 13 years, and I’m forever grateful to you for rescuing her and giving her a second chance at life. She truly changed mine. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. ~Dave See our Facebook post for more info and photos of [Dog Name]. |

RIP Molly - August 5, 2025
On Tuesday August 5th, we had to say goodbye to our beloved Molly (Loli). Molly came to us via Priscila Pacheco in 2014. She was an amazing friend that lived her best life with us in Port Coquitlam and then Lake Country, BC. We’re not sure who is missing her most; Us, or her Mexpup brother Rocket (Falcon). She has left a huge hole in all our hearts, but the wonderful memories of her help us get through these tough days. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Molly. |

RIP Luna - July 21, 2025
Luna gained her wings at the Rainbow Bridge on July 21. Nico & Sebastian will be there to greet you at the bridge Luna! We had Luna for 12-14 years and she was the best dog! Her presence is missed and boy does it seem weird without her. Thank you to MexPup for bringing her into our lives. Remember to hug your babies tight. Run free angel Luna! See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Luna. |

RIP Claire - June 30, 2025
Rescue can be amazing, when things go well and that is what we normally share. When it doesn’t, it is simply heartbreaking. Today we said goodbye to Claire and it really hurts. She deserved more and thus; I cannot let her leave without telling her story. She entered the whole without much hope, born to a pseudo street dog (she had a family, but they couldn’t give her much). We were asked to help and thankfully had space to take the mom and all 5 puppies into care. At their first vet check we got the worst news possible. Momma Esmeralda was positive for distemper which meant the 1-month-old puppies likely had it also. We gave them all the treatments possible and waited. They were all doing well, and just when we were getting close to thinking we were out of the danger zone, everything changed. Claire tried so hard to fight, but in the end this terrible disease was just too much for little body. She was such a happy, playful girl and that’s the way we want to remember her. She may have only had 2 months of life, but she knew love, safety, and got the most amazing care from her foster family. Run free now Claire and know how much you were loved. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Claire. |

RIP Roddy - May 2025
My heart is feeling heavy as I have recently said goodbye to my Best Boy Roddy. Roddy was born in Mexico in 2010 and joined our family when he was 2 years old. He was fearful and anxious upon arrival but settled well into our quiet home. Roddy was handsome, eager to please and quite obedient. He wasn’t the perfect dog but he was the perfect dog for me. His favorite food was cat food and he was infamous for pacing and barking at nothing. Roddy loved chasing his BF Clio through out the BL lands. He liked beach walks but would never swim. He was fond of happy hour at Gramma and Grampa’s. Roddy and I enjoyed many adventures together off the beaten path. He was my hiking buddy, my running partner…. My best friend. I miss him immensely and seek comfort in imagining Roddy chasing squirrels and running free. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Roddy. |

RIP Bijou - February 24, 2025
The hardest part of sharing your heart and home is the final goodbye. Bijou was my inspiration and motivation for Mexpup, he was my Baby Bear. We were together for about 16 years and in that time he went from being a shy, terrified little guy, to the most stubborn old man on 4 legs. If Bijou didn't want to do something he'd dig his little paws in. Age and mobility stole his love of life, as his little body was failing my heart sank. Our time together was running out and I couldn't be selfish, setting him free was the most loving choice. On February 24th, 2025, Bijou took his last breath as I held mine. We cuddled, I told him how much I loved him and he was my best boy. He's with me every day in my thoughts and in my heart. Fly free my little angel. |

RIP Lewis - February 11, 2025
Lewis gained his wings on February 11 at the happy old age of 12. We are so grateful for the 11 years we got with him in our family. He was the bestest boy, a sweet old man, and we will miss him so much. It's still hard to type this. Rest easy old man. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Lewis. |

RIP Maximilian - September 05, 2024
Maximilian was found wandering the streets, lost and helpless until help finally arrived. When he arrived at the shelter he was filthy, malnourished, full of ticks and fleas, and limping from an old untreated injury. Thanks to the vet’s care, he received treatment, vitamins, vaccinations, and the comfort of finally being safe, and with time, love, and attention, he began to heal. Although Maximilian never knew the warmth of a forever family, he was deeply loved during his time in the shelter. He had a gentle soul, adored chasing balls, and despite his age and health challenges, he still ran and played with joy. We say goodbye to this 12 years old sweet boy. Maximilian, you may not have had the longest life filled with family, but you were cherished, and you left pawprints on all of our hearts. Rest easy now, Maximilian. You were loved. |

RIP Poppy - February 2024
Sweet Poppy had the privilege of being in a wonderful forever home for the past 2 years. Some words from Poppy’s mom🤍: With a heavy heart I wanted to let you know that Poppy passed away suddenly on Feb29th. We went on many adventures together. Bowen Island and Hornby Island, to name a few...she was my travelling buddy. Great in the car, on the ferry, walking everywhere. Sandy beaches, forest trails, hundreds of parks. Except dog parks. She wasn’t a big fan of those. She preferred to play and say hello to friends on her own terms. She had neighbourhood doggie friends. One particular Aussie Shepherd; she would sniff him out blocks away. When we would finally meet on the sidewalk she would dance and hop around him like a bunny rabbit. I’m devastated and missing her very much. I really thought we would have many years together. She was so very loved. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Poppy. |

RIP Nebula - November 20, 2023
Nebula was loved. She arrived to a home with a family that was so excited for her to join them. She was a special girl and was treated as such. Nebbie enjoyed all the love, walks, belly rubs, cuddles, and care she received. Sadly, things changed for her. We aren’t sure of the whys, but the situation changed and became untenable. This sweet girl that was so loved and cherished was no longer OK. After much work, discussion, and consideration, we made the best decision for Nebula to take her out of her pain and to keep all those around her safe. Her family was with her to the end. Run free over the rainbow bridge Nebbie, no more fear just peace from now on. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Nebula. |

RIP Charlie - November 2023
We lost Charlie last week after 8 and half amazing years and we wanted to try to convey how much he meant to us. Charlie, at the time Villo, came into our lives well into adulthood, already at least 6 years old. He was not who I was looking for, but little did I know it didn’t matter because he was looking for us. I wanted a bigger dog, but Charlie's larger-than-life personality was more than enough to make up for his small size. Courtney agreed to foster him for a week while his foster family went camping and the rest is history. Charlie changed our house immediately. He made our house a home and our new family began. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Charlie. |

RIP Rosie - May 9, 2023
We are in shock. She was young and healthy. She was ready to find her forever home and we didn't understand why she hadn't gotten any applications. She started feeling poorly early Monday morning. She didn't want to eat so by Tuesday morning we were off to the vets where we discovered she was fighting an infection. Treatment was started and we assumed she would improve. Less than 10 hours later she was gone. She arrived to us as a small puppy and left as a beautiful young dog. Her life was too short, but she had lots of love, walks, toys, play time, treats, adventures and joy. She had been home the whole time she was with us, we just didn't realize it. Run free now sweet Rosie, you will be missed. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Rosie. |

RIP Rose - July 15, 2022
Today we said goodbye to Rose. She was a special girl who never found an adoptive family, but she had people that loved her and cared for her until her last breath. We are beyond grateful to Angel for the great life he gave her and everyone at Tibet Canino that cared for her. When Rose came into care, we were hopeful she would find a family. She needed a bit of work, but she was worth it. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Rose. |

RIP Nala - March 2, 2020
Nala flew to BC to join her new family. She arrived as a happy boxer mix but it quickly became apparent that something was not right. It took a few weeks to sort out what was happening, but sadly Nala was diagnosed with lymphoma and was set free on March 2nd. Her family only had her for a very short time but they loved her so much. We were all devastated by the news, but are grateful that she had a few months of love in her foster homes and left as a loved member of a family. Run free now Nala, you will be missed. See our Facebook post for more info and photos of Nala. |
