Willie & Nelson: Pending please check back...
Willie & Nelson are an adorable and inseparable poodle duo! They had an owner for 3 years, but unfortunately she got really sick and couldn’t take care of them anymore, so we took them in. Willie (more yellow one, with blue red collar) is 5.5kg and Nelson (taller curlier one, with blue green collar) is 5.3kg. They are 3 years old brothers and they have lived all their life together, so we will adopt them together. At the rescue we jokingly keep saying they are one dog since they are a lot together and so similar behaviour wise!
They love each other and love to be together most of the time, but they won’t panic even if the other one is in another room. They are a bit shy with new people, but they do love to be held! After a new person picks them up, they just want to be loved. They are really good on walks, at the moment they walk usually with other dogs too. They walk nicely on your side.
Both get along with all the dogs (they currently live with 15 other dogs) but they don’t really interact with the others, they like to keep to themselves. They are mostly housetrained, if they are taken out in the evening and in the morning they haven’t had accidents inside.
In general they are both quite shy so we are hoping that their new home would be a calm environment so they are able to relax.
They are not only one dog, they do have their own personal traits too! Nelson loves kisses and Nelson hates them! Nelson loves food more, Willie is a bit more picky with food. On the walks Willie is a bit more shy and scared of loud noises like traffic. On the other hand Nelson is a little more pulley on the walks.
We have not noticed any destructive behaviour and they haven’t been really interested in toys. We at the rescue believe that their personalities will bloom in a calm environment, since they seem to be a bit shy around so many dogs we have in the house. They hate the sound of squeaky toys and will bark if anyone is squeaking a toy! They are not really barky, but sometimes when the other dogs are barking, they will join in.
In general they are adorable cute little poodles, who just want to be loved! They would love a home where they get a lot of attention and kisses (for Willie). They are easy to take around everywhere - they are good in cars and restaurants etc. They are also used to staying alone as long as they can cuddle together. They also sleep together on a dog bed or in an open crate. As we said they are inseparable.

Copper: Pending please check back...
Copper is a goofy Around 9 months old boy. He weighs 10.2 kilos. He was found skinny wandering on a beach alone and he followed one of our volunteers home. He had low blood values but otherwise he has been a happy healthy boy since his arrival. He lives currently with 15 dogs (females, males, small, big & puppies) and he gets along with everyone well. He is really playful and likes to play with his best friends as much as he can! At the moment his best friend is a bit bigger1 year old female, but he plays well with even the tiniest puppies. He is still young and has some energy, he is happy to go on walks so we hope in his new home he'll have a chance to go on long walks or have an area where he can run and play.
He goes on walks twice a day now and he is really good on walks. Only sometimes if other dogs bark at him, he might bark back. He walks usually with 1-2 other dogs and walks well with all the dogs from the house.
Copper can be bit shy with new people sometimes but in overall he likes everyone he has met. He is cute little boy who will make some family definitely very happy.
Copper can be on a flight into Vancouver in August if an adoptive home is found
If you are interested in Copper please email [email protected] or submit an application on our website mexpup.com

Lady: Pending please check back...
Meet Lady!
This beautiful pup is an almost 6 month old, shepherd mix of sorts. She currently weighs 35 pounds and will likely be medium-large size full grown. We were informed by a local about a Mother and seven puppies in an abandoned lot, in very poor condition. Luckily we were able to rescue them all. The puppies were cleaned up, given flea and tick treatment and are doing great now!
Lady welcomes everyone she meets to the rescue. She loves to play with teenagers, children and other dogs. She has been doing very well with his leash training and has also been introduced to off-leash environments. She knows that bathroom needs are to be outside but here at the rescue she has constant access so her new owner will just need to teach and guide her on the designated areas in her new home. She has already learned the commands 'stop', 'sit down' and 'come on'. She has never shown any signs of food aggression, but she does prefer to eat her food separately. This is something that can be worked on with the right guidance and training if there are other dogs in her new home.
Lady's ideal home would be in a household with older children who are very active. She would love to join the whole family on nature adventures and play time. She has 24 other canine friends here at the rescue so other dogs in the household would be a bonus. She has not been cat tested. This sweet young girl is in need of her forever home full of adventure, activities and unconditional love.

Abbie: Pending please check back...
Abbie is around 1 year old and weighs roughly 17kg. We think she is probably some kind of lab - pit mix. She's not tall, but stocky. Abbie has been one of our most shocking rescue transformations, when we rescued her she was covered in oil burns and open sores. She was so weak she could barely walk and we weren’t sure if she would make it. Luckily for her she was found and she has made an amazing recovery! Even we wouldn't believe she's the same dog if we had not seen the transformation ourselves. Now Abbie is an energetic, excited, happy girl! She looooves people and would like to say hi to everyone. She loves giving kisses and cuddles. When meeting people she might get bit too excited and jump or playfully bite so we recommend no kids as sometimes she struggles to regulate her excitement and bounds around like the happiest little bull in a china shop - did we mention she’s pretty excitable .
Walking her on a leash is night and day compared to when we first started training, nowadays she is amazing and walks on a loose leash. She definitely needs an owner who can practice calm and set boundaries with her so that this remains the case, for example at the start of a walk she knows she has to sit and we will go when she is calm, after this she is perfect on leash but she needs someone who will be consistent with boundaries such as this. She would like to go say hi to other dogs and people, but if we won't allow her, she keeps walking nicely. Sometimes if another dog barks at her, she can react back as she finds barking/lunging dogs a little stressful.
At the moment Abbie lives in a dog rescue house with 15 other dogs. She likes most of the other dogs, but we have observed that she sometimes dislikes huge dogs (we have an 160lb Great Dane and a large Doberman who she does not like), usually though her main issue is actually that she likes the other dogs too much. She can be a bit intense and run right to other dogs faces and constantly initiate play and she doesn't always pick up on the signal that the other dogs may not like it. With some of the dogs she can stay off leash, but with some of the dogs we keep her on a dropped leash in the house so we can easily correct her if she's too intense to other dogs. For this reason we do believe she would do best as an only dog in the household. It is possible for her to live with another dog, especially because she LOVES to play and it would be amazing if she could have a friend so they can tire each other out, but the other dog would have to be exceptionally playful and very very tolerant. We believe with an experienced family who are very confident in doing introductions this would be fine. Abbie does go to the dog park on the weekends where our dog trainer runs a playgroup and she does great off leash for the most part but she does need to be reminded to calm down sometimes.
Abbie loves food more than anything (probably since the poor girl was so starving and skinny), so she will do anything for a treat - which makes her incredibly easy to train! She would be happy to learn lot of tricks and use some of her energy on brain games too.
It took a while for Abbies muscles to recover, but she keeps showing improvement all the time and now she loves running and jumping around! We hope Abbie will find a family where she can go on long walks or have enough space to run and play around.
Abbie gets bored easily, so if she's left alone we recommend to have plenty of toys and entertainment around. She is happy to play with her toys even alone and will do a hilarious dance throwing them in the air for herself. She really is incredibly smart so enrolling her in doggy classes would be ideal since she is so keen to be active, it would help her regulate her excitement when she gets overstimulated and she loves to learn and really does want to make her people happy.
Overall Abbie is an absolute sweetheart and you can see she is trying her best to be a good girl. She was clearly so starved not only of food, but of love and family. We know that Abbie may be ‘too much’ for some people, but we KNOW there is a home for her where she is the absolute perfect addition and she deserves to find them.
Please share to help Abbie find her people .

Mariela : Pending please check back...
Meet Mariela!
She is a 5 year old, 38 pound Schillerstovare mix. There was a very poor man who owned five dogs and lived a couple of blocks away from our shelter under a plastic and wood shelter. We offered to take them from him to be neutered/spayed but they were so sick from pneumonia that we had to take them in for a couple of days. After some time, the dogs stayed with us more and more until one day the man disappeared and they moved in with us permanently. We believe Mariela is the Mother of the other four dogs, we lost one of them due to the condition they were in unfortunately however all the rest made a full recovery and are doing fantastic
Mariela was malnourished, full of fleas and ticks and had pneumonia. She received treatment, has since gained weight and is doing great now.
Mariela welcomes everyone to the rescue calmly. She has been around children, strangers, other dogs and cats. She does great with all. She shares her toys with other dogs and has never shown any signs of aggression or possession issues. When she particularly wants affection, she may give off a little growl when you pay attention to another dog. This is the only behaviour she has that will need to be discouraged. She has never been in a crate before as she lived on the streets and sleeps on her bed here at the rescue. She has been around teenagers and kids. She really likes kids but can be shy around them as she does not know how to play with them.
Mariela would do great with a medium-active family. She would do well in a household with kids or teenagers once they were relatively calm around her so she doesn't get overwhelmed. She would fit well as the only dog in a home or with other calm adult dogs as she does not have the most patience with puppies or overly playful dogs since she is so calm. She has been loose with cats before and had good behaviour around them so a cat household would work too.
She goes to a dog park training session one a week and does well around other off leash dogs.
Mariela is currently in a foster home with a couple getting some one on one time and confidence building which she absolutely loves and prefers over the shelter setting.
Mariela is a sweet and easy to please girl who has been through quite a lot in her life and is now looking for her forever family who she can depend on for play time and all the affection and love that she deserves.

Zac: Pending please check back...
Meet our gorgeous boy Zac !
Zac is a 5 year old Belgian Malinois, weighing 70 pounds.
Zac is a character ! He looooves attention, he will push his fosters work straight off her desk sometimes with a big grin across his face to tell her that petting him is more important than her work ! Zac lives with 27 other dogs, of all ages, breeds and sizes and does well with everyone, both dominant and non dominant dogs. He typically just doesn't really pay mind to them and is more focussed on playing with his blanket that he loves. Zac is good with people, he has also shown to be good with older kids. He is very excitable and is a big guy so he wouldn't be suited for toddlers or babies. We would say children over the age of 10-12 depending on their dog experience, but in an absolutely ideal world Zac would probably go to an adult only home.
Zac needs a home free of cats and any other animals like farm animals etc.
He is a dog only kind of guy
Zac is a very smart boy, as most dogs of his breed, and has learned commands such as stop and sit.
Zac is sweet and goofy, but he has a very strong personality and if aloud he would be the kind of dog to run the house and try to be the alpha, so he will need an experienced and strong leader in an owner, as most shepherds do. An owner with shepherd experience is preferred, or alternatively an owner who has experience with a working breed such as an australian shepherd, collie, husky, rottweiler, mastiff etc.,
He is the kind of dog that would be an incredible listener and very determined in training with a strong pack leader
Zac will need an active home and is not suited for apartment living. He will need a house preferably with a fully fenced yard.
Zac can be on a flight into BC in August once an adoptive home is found

Rufo: Pending please check back...
Meet Rufo!
He is a 2 year old, 62 pound Labrador retriever/ pointer mix. Rufo had an owner but lived on the streets and was barely fed. We found him poisoned and abandoned in the middle of the street. He was skinny, full of fleas and had foam in his mouth. He has been treated, gained weight and is doing great now!
Rufo welcomes everyone he meets to the rescue. He shows calmness when meeting strangers, children and other dogs. He has not been exposed to cats yet so we are not sure how we would do with them. He has been doing great with his on-leash and off-leash training. He does not know any commands yet but understands and obeys if you give him instructions by hand.
When he cannot get your attention, he sometimes will give very soft bites, mostly like a pinch to get you to notice him. This is not a huge concern but something that can easily be discouraged with positive reinforcement. He likes car rides and has never shown any signs of aggression or possessiveness over anything, he loves to share his toys with all of the other dogs.
Rufo's energy levels would best be described as moderately active. He absolutely loves playing with the ball and playing with other dogs of any size. He would do great in an active household with kids of any age, a yard would be ideal and he will always be up for adventures such as walks in nature, playing in water or mud and open areas to run. He is also the type of dog that will snuggle up next to you to sleep or watch tv at the end of the day. This beautiful boy is looking for his forever home with the best of both worlds - adventure and play, coupled with affection and love.
Rufo can be on one of our next flights into Seattle once an adoptive home is found

Sultan: Pending please check back...
Meet Sultan!
He is 3 year olds, a very big boy weighing in at 78 pounds, and likely to be a Weimaraner- Great Dane mix.
One day a truck arrived at our friends shelter with some dogs, she could not take them as she was overflowing with dogs and did not have any more space. A couple of days later she found Sultan and his sister, dirty and scared on a dirt road, with wire wrapped around their necks. They stayed together. Sultan however would not come with Claudia and kept pulling her towards a sewage treatment plant in a panicked state as in to show her something. Eventually she was finally able to find the third sibling that Sultan was trying to explain to Claudia needed help and brought them all home together. He wouldnt leave without both of his sisters.
Sultan was found very skinny, full of fleas and ticks. He was treated for parasites and put on a meal plan to help him gain weight, he is thriving now!
His sisters were adopted together as a bonded pair back in December and now it is this sweet boys turn !
This beautiful boy gets along with everybody, he has been around adults, children, strangers... lives with 30 other dogs and welcomes everyone with calmness. The only exception is cats, he will need to be in a cat-free household as they make him anxious. He does on leash, although of course very strong, and does well in the shelters off leash environment. He has not learned any commands yet but is very obedient, so teaching him would not be difficult. He has never shown any aggression or destructive behaviours.
Sultan was the leader and gave strength to his sisters when they arrived at the rescue, he would always be right next to them to make them feel safe. He likes to express himself by almost speaking. When we found them he came to our rescuer babbling on like he was trying to explain what they had gone through.
Sultan would do great with a low to medium energy family, with kids we would say 8 or older just due to Sultans size as he would probably knock over toddlers. He loves to walk and be next to you all of the time, another dog to bond with would also be great for him, preferably female however he would do fine with another non dominant male. He is not necessarily a dominant boy, however he is big and some of the other dominant males sometimes dont like him due to his size.
He loves his time to relax and be showered with pets and affection. He also loves adventures every now and then, such as going for a run or playing in water. This boy has such an amazing personality, he has such a caring and protective nature, once he finds his family he will be by your side no matter what. He will greet visitors with enthusiasm. This is an extremely loveable dog who will never leave your side and always have your back, (and may tell you stories once in a while).
Sultan will need an owner who has experience with medium to large breeds to ensure he continues good manners in his leash walking as well as knows who his pack leader is, as he is a leader type dog who does best in structured environment.

Negro : Pending please check back...
Meet Negro!
He is a 3 year old, 35 pound Schillerstovare mix. There was a very poor man who owned five dogs and lived a couple of blocks away from our shelter under a plastic and wood shelter. We offered to take them from him to be neutered/spayed but they were so sick from pneumonia that we had to take them in for a couple of days. After some time, the dogs stayed with us more and more until one day the man disappeared and they moved in with us permanently
Negro was malnourished, full of fleas and ticks and had pneumonia. He received treatment, has since gained weight and is doing great now. we discovered that Negro has a heart murmur but it does not affect him at all and will have no long term issues
Negro welcomes everyone to the rescue calmly. He has been around children, strangers, other dogs and cats. He does great with all. He does great in both on-leash and off-leash environments. Negro shares his food with the whole pack but may growl a little when pups get close to his food. This behaviour can sometimes occur if another dog wants to sleep in his bed or take his blankets and toys. IT is very minor and corrected with a simple "hey" or "no", and never is more than a growl, he just uses this communication to let other dogs know when he does not want to share. This is not uncommon with dogs who have had to live on the streets hungry, but with the right guidance and direction, this behaviour can be discouraged with positive reinforcement and will be a very quick fix as it is very minor and Negro is a very sweet boy who wants to please. Before Negro permanently moved to the shelter, he would bring things to the shelter from other houses like clothing or empty food packaging, almost as a present for Claudia, he would be very proud of his findings ! He likes to find things like this so his new home will just need to keep an eye out to make sure he is not in reach of any valuables. (He is able to climb tables so would just have to be careful about food being left out).
Negro is truly the sweetest soul, he needs a little bit of confidence building in new environments where there are loud sounds or weird smells he is unsure of but learns that things are okay quickly with his people reassurance. He is a very sweet and passive boy that would get along with any dog, sometimes the dogs in the shelter pick on him because they know they will get no reaction from him, so we hope to find him a great home soon where he can feel more relaxed and confident
Negro would do great with an active family, with a moderately experienced owner who can guide him with the right training. he would love kids to play with and share mischievous moments with. He would love to be a part of hiking adventures and daily walks. Another dog to play with would be ideal. Cats in the household are also an option as he does well around them. This sweet boy thrives off of attention, he loves to be rubbed and is a kissing machine! You will never fall short on affection from him, he has a loveable personality and is very fun to play with.

Nono: Pending please check back...
Hi everyone !
My name is Nono and I am looking for my forever family, could that be you ?
I am a 7 month old mixed breed, I kind of look like a bigger jack russell ! I currently weigh 17kg (37 pounds) and am probably close to if not done growing. My rescuers found me infront of their door as a pup and when they opened it I just walked in and made myself at home, I could tell they were dog people !
I was very shy for my first week in care, but have come out of my Shell and enjoy all the new people and dogs I meet. I also think I would be fine with cats, I don't pay attention to the cats that we feed and wouldn't mind if cats are a part of your family !
I do not show any destructive behaviours, and I am good with sharing all things, I do not resource guard anything. I have been working on my leash walking and have been doing very well. I even almost totally have the house training thing down, I just may need some reminders in my new home.
I really do best in the company of other dogs, especially when left alone so I would really hope for a home with another dog if possible. I would also enjoy human kids that are dog savvy. My confidence has really grown but I may still be a bit of a shy guy when I first arrive with my people but once I come out of my shell I will show you every goofy side I have !
I love adventures, running and playing. A yard would be an awesome bonus ! I would love an active family who will help me continue to explore the world with confidence and cant wait until those people find me !
If I sound like a good fit for you I can be on a flight into Seattle pretty soon, possibly even by this friday if the right home finds me !
If you are interested in me please submit an application or email [email protected]
My adoption fee covers my flight/ neuter/ and full vetting.
I cant wait to meet you !

Nova: In a PV foster & looking for a BC home
Meet Nova!
She is a 1 year old, 50 pound girl. Likely to be a mix of an American staffordshire terrier and a German shepherd. As a puppy - Nova was abandoned along with her 4 siblings. They were put in a box and left on our doorstep. They were adopted locally, but the following year, Nova and her sister were once again abandoned. This time they were in worse condition. The first time, Nova was malnourished and treated for ticks. The second time, she was severely malnourished. Since then, she has been treated with the right love and care, and grown to a healthy weight!
Nova is very calm and welcoming to everyone at the rescue. She loves to play with both teenagers and children. She also loves to play and share toys with all of the other dogs here at the rescue. She has not learnt any commands yet but her training with on-leash and off-leash environments is going great! She has not been cat tested so a cat-free household would be best. She is particularly shy and fearful with extremely loud bangs. She hides when she hears thunderstorms and fireworks. She would need a confident leader who could show her that she does not need to fear these things.
We think a young couple or an active family with teenagers/kids would be the ideal home for this special lady. Other dogs in the home would be a bonus. Nova is a true water dog! She loves nature adventures and water activities. She was treated very poorly at the beginning of her life. But this did not stop her from being the sweet, happy go lucky pup that she is. She has been known to seek out the softest beds for her wind down and snuggle time. We are searching for that forever home that she truly deserves - full of water adventures, with the right love and comfort at the end of the day.
Nova can be on a flight into Vancouver in the middle of August once and adoptive home is found.
If interested in Nova email [email protected] or submit an application

Tia: In a PV foster & looking for a BC home
Tia is an energetic 1 year old female (around 17 kg). She was left tied outside a house of a lady who does help with dog rescues in Puerto Vallarta. She was a bit skinny, but otherwise in good health. She has gotten all her vaccinations and has been sterilized. She likes attention from both people and dogs.
Tia is a really energetic young girl who will need a lot of exercise. She likes to run and play a lot! In her ideal new home she would have a garden or big area to run and play with. She loves playing with other dogs and she gets along with most dogs she has met. At the moment she lives with 15 other dogs and gets along with everyone. She would be happy to have another playful dog friend to use some of her energy with! At the moment her best friend is a slightly smaller young male and they do love playing together as much as possible (sometimes even too much and we have to separate them for a moment). Tia is a loving girl and her family should have patience to train her with her high energy level.
She is really friendly and likes everyone she meets. She gets really excited to go on walks and in the beginning of the walk she might be a bit pulley, but she is responding well to correction and training.
Sometimes she jumps or tries to playfully bite, which is why she wouldn’t be the best with small kids, but otherwise she would do well in most families who can offer her enough exercise every day. She would probably make an amazing hiking buddy! She can get a bit snappy with other dogs if food or toys are around, but most of the time she does play nicely with others.
Tia can be on a flight into BC in August if an adoptive home is found

Addison: In a PV foster & looking for a home in Washington
Addison is a female, 5 month old, 26 pound, hound-mix puppy from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. She was rescued from a mountain range in east Puerto Vallarta where we had heard over 40 dogs were abandoned and breeding in very terrible conditions. Addison and her 10 siblings were only three weeks old when they were found with their mama, and they had already endured so much. This poor dog family was covered in fleas and ticks, suffering from severe dehydration and starvation and all infected with a tick-born illness called Ehrlichia. The vet told us it was a 50/50 chance at survival. In these conditions, it was hard for mama to produce enough milk and it took round the clock care to nurse these babies to health. Only 5 of the 11 puppies made it in the end, making Addison a very special survivor to us. She has grown into a beautiful, strong, very smart girl who is now ready for her forever family.
Addison currently living in foster with her sister in an apartment/ condo setting where she is picking up on potty and house training very well. She goes out as soon as she wakes up and when we are not home, or fast enough for her puppy bladder she is trained to go on the balcony. She eats a mix of puppy and adult food three times a day. She is also doing very well with her training and knows how to sit, wait politely for her food bowl, and now lay down. She has been able to be left alone for a few hours with no problems with destruction, as long as they’re plenty chew toys around.
Addison is used to hiking through the river or running through the waves at the beach most days. She is incredibly active and loves her walks, we are training her to not pull as much and to walk by our side at our pace. She also is very well trained off leash and with the call of her name, and the command “come” in an excited high pitch voice, recalls perfectly. She is getting much better at walking through the busy Puerto Vallarta city with confidence. Sometimes heavy traffic noise can startle her a little, or a stranger reaching down to pet her, but with each walk we see improvement. She is great at meeting new dogs on leash and off leash and has had good experiences at the dog park as well. She is a little reserved with strangers but in calm settings warms up very quickly.
The ideal home for Addison would be with an outdoorsy and active family with previous dog experience, dedicated to continuing her puppy training. Someone who loves a running, camping, swimming, boating or river buddy, this is your girl. A home where she is left alone for long periods of time will not be suitable, as she is a puppy in need of more attention. Daycare or dog walking could be a good option if the perfect application came along that worked long days.
She can be with dog savvy children over the age of 12 that know how to respect her space and will not be frightened of her big puppy energy. She loves all dogs so a companion would be great for her but she also is okay with being the center of attention. If this sounds like the puppy of your dreams please be in touch!
Adoption fee covers spay/ vaccines/ full vet testing and flight.

Luna (fka Catrina): Adopted !! May 24th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Unfortunately our girl Luna (formerly Catrina) is in search of a new forever home. Luna is a 1.5yr old black lab mix breed. She is a medium sized dog and weighs 42lbs. She is very sweet, loves people, good with kids but has never been around small kids under 5, and plays well with other dogs outside the house. She is not leash reactive but does get super excited when she sees other dogs and her current home has been working on her leash manners with her. Luna loves car rides, kisses, walks, high fives and treats! She can be stubborn and sometimes will stop in her tracks if she doesn’t want to go home from a walk, it’s kind of hilarious, we cant blame her, there is so much of the world to explore ! Right now Luna is having some pack hierarchy issues with the other female dog in the home resulting in some altercations between the two. She did not have any dominance issues when in our care so we believe it is something that can be very worked on as it seems to be a dominance/ possession behaviour with her home which is trainable. Right now Luna's new forever home would ideally have no other dogs or a well adjusted male with parents who have experience and can work on this with her and give her training and reassurance that her owner is the Alpha and not her. Luna is spayed and fully vaccinated. She just had all her updated annual vaccines last month. Recently her home has been working with a dog trainer and Luna has been routinely working on her leash training. She does not have any food regression and is currently learning how to retrieve her ball and bring it back. She loves to be outside and is a very curious adventurer. She does not have the best recall at the moment so a would be best in a fenced yard, or under constant supervision. Luna is in Courtenay, BC and can be available for meet and greets if we think you are a good match, while of course abiding by Covid travel rules |
Wero 3: Adopted !! April 30th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet our sweet little boy Wero ! Wero is 8 months old and weighs 4.6 kg (10 pounds) He is a chihuahua mix As you can see Wero has a small left eye. He can still see through this eye just limited. We are not sure how Wero's eye became this way or if he was born with a smaller eye but we still think he looks perfect. Our vets fully examined Weros eye and said it does not bother him and will have no long term issues, it just has limited sight, but is not blind. Wero is a sweet guy who likes people, kids, dogs and cats He plays with dogs of any size Wero does not have any resource guarding or possession issues. He is very active and loves playing with the ball and other dogs. He would do great with an active and loving family with kids of any age, walks in nature and open areas too run and jump. He is not a big fan of water. Wero can be on our next flight into SeaTac one an adoptive home is found for him |

Chula (fka Bailey): Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Bailey, or Mama Bailey as we call her at the rescue, was found abandoned in a mountain property along with 50+ other dogs all in terrible shape. Bailey is about 2-3 years old, currently weighs 24 kg and was rescued with her 11 three week old puppies. All were in very critical condition, suffering from starvation, dehydration, parasites and a disease given from ticks called ehrlichia. All the puppies and Mama Bailey were given a 50/50 chance at survival. Our volunteers poured ourselves into their fight for survival, feeding them all through the night, and most of all giving them all the love. Through the entire journey, Bailey was the sweetest mama in the world always letting us take care of her babies and always greeting us with big kisses. We are so happy with the strong, beautiful, and happy girl Bailey is after having to overcome so much in this life already. She has made a full recovery and we are also very happy to say, after a long, tough fight, five of her puppies survived as well. Since being with us at the rescue Bailey has adapted to home life very well. She loves everyone that she meets and is friends with all 20+ of our dog pack. She is doing great with her walk training, and will require a family that is dedicated to continuing her progress as she is a very strong girl who can pull with excitement. She has so much playful and excited energy that an active lifestyle is a must for this girl. She also will need a family that will allow Bailey to kiss their whole face. Bailey would love to have a doggy friend or two at home as she has never lived without other dog company. While she is an excited and energetic girl, she also loves sleeping in all morning and lounging on the couch for hours. She loves to snuggle up on the bed with us as well as her dog bed, but does not enjoy sleeping in a crate or spending a lot of time in one. She also would do best surrounded by toys and lots and lots of love and affection. Bailey has not lived with cats and may chase them out of excitement, but we can her officially cat tested if the right home came along and had cats. If this special angel sounds like the perfect addition to your life or family please send an application and we will be in touch with you shortly! |
Gimli: Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Hello friend ? I'm Gimli and I am a happy ball of squishy, fun loving chihuahua mixed with who knows what! Yes my ears really are as big as in the photos and my eyes are a beautiful green. My humans thought I was going to be a cattle dog mix but I havent grown past this small size and it is quite clear that I'm actually a tiny dog ! I am around 5 months old and still full of energy. I now weigh 4.8kg but probably won't get much bigger as I haven't grown much while in foster. I love to walk, play, swim, eat, sleep, meet new people and give lots of kisses. I am always doing something cute or mischievous. At night I love to have someone to snuggle up to whether it's my human family or a furry companion. I hope my new family has either children or another playful pup to play with me and help me use up all my energy. I would also like a family who can train be on how to be a good boy when it comes to housetraining, general puppy manners and walking well on a leash - I am already pretty good but I need a bit more practice. My flight to Seattle is already booked and I arrive on the 22nd! So if you want to add me to your family send in a application form to us without delay! |
Charlie (fka Mr. Rogers): Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Mr. Rogers is an 11 years old sweetheart who is looking for a forever home. He weighs 25 pounds and looks like a mini Golden retriever. He will charm everyone he meets with his kind eyes and soft fur. He loves attention and cuddles, but also likes to have nice naps on his own. Mr. Rogers is excited to go on walks and he looves rolling on the beach! He looks 10 years younger when he is running and rolling on the beach. At the moment he lives with 20 dogs and gets along with everyone in the house. Even though he does get along with everyone, he sometimes gets bit growly if the others are being too wild (like puppies jumping on his face or big male dogs), so he would prefer a house where the other dogs would like to keep on their own and gives him his space. He lived previously with kids and he has been kind to everyone he has met on walks. In his ideal home he would get to go on nice walks, get love & cuddles and enough time to relax in a calm environment. He is blind in one eye, but that doesn't seem to bother him at all! The vets think his other eye will be going blind some point too, but he seems to be really good at navigating anyway. When he came to us he had fungus , erhlichia and ear infections, but all those have been treated and now he is in good health, vaccinated and sterilized. He had a family but he had been seen eating trash on streets and when the family's mother got sick they surrendered Mr. Rogers to us. His kids really love him though and every evening on our walks they wait at the top of the hill to say hi to him and give him kisses He loves people and in our rescue he loves to follow his favorite person around at all times and cuddle with her at nights. Mr Rogers loves road trips and he is really good in the car. He is a perfect buddy to sit on dog friendly coffee places or restaurants. We hope you'll be interested to offer a calm forever home for this kind old gentleman, he deserves the best home for the rest of his life!! If you are interested in Mr. Rogers please reply to this ad or email with info about yourself or your home. Please do not just simply ask a question, submit an application or ask if he is available without including info about yourself as it is just as important for us to see if you are a match for our dogs and it is for them to be a match for you. If your info sounds like it could be a match we will ask you to complete an application |
Nova (fka Freya): Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Freya was tied up at a construction site by herself. She is a shy girl who takes some time to warm up to new people. She does well with other dogs and is very patient. She is also good with kids that are calm and respect her space. She is 6 months old and approx 15 pounds. She is likely full grown |
Keyla: Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Keyla is a 5 month old, 35 pound mixed breed. We assume that she is likely a hound sort mix. She is likely to be on the larger end of medium full grown. We would give our best guess at 50-70 pounds full grown based on her size now, the size of her paws and the fact that her mama is 60 pounds. Keyla, her siblings and mom were rescued from a gas station off the side of a highway. They were just a month old at the time and starting to crawl, so we knew we had to get them out of there fast before they put themselves in danger and wandered toward the traffic. Mom took great care of them, however they were full of parasites and fleas. They have received treatment for this and are doing great now! This sweet angel currently lives with over 30 other dogs and gets along with everybody - dogs, adults, teenagers and children. She welcomes everyone she meets calmly and loves to play. Her leash training both on leash and off leash have been going very well. We are unsure of how she would do with cats as she has not been in direct contact with them, but she pays little attention to the cat area at the rescue and ignores the stray cats that her rescuer feed so we think she would do fine with cats. She is partially house trained and doing very well, she does have constant access to the outdoors here though so she may need some guidance establishing the specific bathroom area in her new home. Keyla is very active, she loves the water, running around and playing with other dogs. An ideal home for her would be a active family with kids, or an active person/couple, lots of nature adventures and an open space at home where she can run and play. She would love to have another dog to play with, but this is not a must as long as she finds the perfect family. She would be the perfect companion for a family looking for an adventure buddy - she has tons of love and affection to give! |

Kay: Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet our Kay ! Ducky is a sweet 5 month old, 33 pound angel We think that Kay is likely a hound/lab mix of sorts We swear Kay grows bigger every day and she is likely going to be on the larger end of medium full grown. If we had to guess we would say 50-70 pounds full grown based on her size now, the size of her paws and the fact that her mama is 60 pounds. She has almost already reached mamas height ! Kay, her sibling and their mama were rescued by a wonderful friend of ours, off the side of the highway at a gas station. They were 1 month old at the time and starting to crawl, so we knew we had to get them out of there fast before they put themselves in danger and wandered towards the traffic. Kay is a sweet girl, she currently lives with 30 other dogs and gets along with all of them great. We are unsure of how Kay would be with cats but he does not bark at the area that the cats live in so it could be possible, we would just need to cat test her. Kay does well with people as well as the children she has met. She is a super snuggly girl who loves attention Kay is partially house trained, while she does not do his business where she is not supposed to, she does have constant access to where she is meant to go so she may need some reminding in her new home. Kay is learning all the new noises and sometimes gets a little spooked by loud noises she has never heard before, but this is normal for a puppy and with time she will learn ! Kay has been doing very well on his leash walking. She does not show any signs of possessive behaviour towards his food/toys/beds or people. Sometimes if the other dogs play too rough with Kay an if she is too tired to play back she will growl and show her teeth, this isn't uncommon for a puppy and she responds very well to correction so her family may just need to continue correcting her on how to just walk away when shes done playing until she grows out of it ! Kay is a super sweet girl who would love an active home. She LOVES to be in water and would love trips to the beach or long hikes with her family. A yard would be a bonus. She would love having another dog to play with but this is not an absolute must as long as she finds the perfect people. Kay would be a good family dog and would do good with kids of any ages If you are interested in Kay please respond with some info about yourself/ your home Kay can be on a flight into Seattle in less that 2 weeks if an adoptive home is found Adoption fee covers spay, vaccines, deworming, heartworm/parvo/distemper testing and flight ! |
Ducky: Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet our boy Ducky ! Ducky is a sweet 5 month old, 40 pound angel We think that Ducky is likely a hound mix from his long nose and his characteristics We swear Ducky grows bigger every day and he is likely going to be a very big boy. If we had to guess we would say 70 pounds or bigger based on his size now, the size of his paws and the fact that his mama is 60 pounds. He has already reached mamas height ! Ducky, his sibling and their mama were rescued by a wonderful friend of ours, off the side of the highway at a gas station. We are unsure of how Ducky would be with cats but he does not bark at the area that the cats live in so it could be possible, we would just need to cat test him. Ducky does well with people as well as the children he has met. He can be a little shy/fearful of some strangers if they approach him too suddenly so he could use people to help him build his confidence. Once he has a good intro with you he is happy to meet you and is a fun and playful boy. We think Children over 8 would be best suited for Ducky. Ducky is partially house trained, while he does not do his business where he is not supposed to, he does have constant access to where he is meant to go so he may need some reminding in his new home. Ducky is learning all the new noises and sometimes gets a little spooked by loud noises he has never heard before, but this is normal for a puppy and with time he will learn ! Thunder (fka Chon): Adopted !! April 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Hi everyone ! My name is Chon and I am looking for my forever family, could that be you ? I am an 8 month old mixed breed (they think hound and border collie). I currently weigh 18kg (40 pounds) and am probably close to done growing. I was taken in by my fosters from the Acopio which is the local city shelter. They were overflowing and needed help so my fosters came to get me. I was very very shy for my first week in care, so my fosters called the Acopio and asked if there was any specific dog who would make me feel better, they didnt know that my sister was also at the Acopio so when they told my fosters they immediately went to pick Elle up and bring her home which made me feel sooooo much better ! Having Elle there gave me the confidence to start meeting the other dogs and I have made some really great friends. I am barely ever shy of anything now and love meeting the new people and dogs that come around. I also like the cats that we feed and I would be happy to live amongst cats if those are a part of your family ! Elle now has a family waiting for her and I really hope I can find one for me too !! If you are interested in me please submit an application or email [email protected] My adoption fee covers my flight/ neuter/ and full vetting. I cant wait to meet you ! |
Greta (fka Stevie): Adopted !! April 11th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Stevie is an absolute doll who can hitch a ride into Portland on April 11th so she is looking for an Oregon home ! Happy 5 month old girl. Currently 12 pounds and likely almost done growing Good with dogs of all sizes, people, kids and cats In terms of Kids her foster says : Stevie adores children possibly above all else BUT she is also like a very small bulldozer when she sees them. Although she will be excited to meet people of all ages in general she goes up to about 150% when we pass children 7 and under and will desperately jump up and lick and nuzzle. So I think whether she is homed with younger children needs to be up to the adopter if they feel they can make sure their tiny kids don´t get scratched and knocked over by a small but very enthusiastic firecracker of a dog. In terms of Cats her foster says: A cat lives on the step outside our front door so we pass it on leash every day and Stevie is pretty scared of it generally. She was interested in the kittens that live at the vivero and got a scratch to the face when she sniffed them and has wisely learnt to hang back and just observe in the case of cats. If she were homed with a dog friendly cat she would probably enjoy befriending it. If you are interested on knowing more about Stevie please either respond to this ad or email me with some brief into on yourself and your home. If I think you sound like you could be a fit I will forward you Stevies tracking sheet with all her info in detail that should answer all your questions and then ask you to fill out an application if all the info on her tracking sheet sounds good to you. |
Dora (fka Elle): Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Ella came into care with her brother Chon and has been quite attached to him. With time she is learning to be more independent, but she will need a family who is home most of the time. She would also do best in a home with another dog for the times that she is left alone. She is 8 months old and currently 20 pound which we think is her full grown size. She is good with kids and cats. She needs slow intros as the world is a scary place for her but she is coming out of her shell more and more each day |
Waldo (fka Milo): Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
Day: Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Day is the sweetest dog who any home would be lucky to have, please read her entire bio to understand Day to a full extent* Meet Day! She is approx 2.5 years old, and weighs 16kg (36 pounds). She is likely a dalmatian mix She was part of a pack of dogs that lived on the river with a man outside his shack. Unfortunately the man passed away leaving the pack on their own. Since then most of the pack has been adopted, and now Day the shyest but sweetest of the bunch is looking for her forever home. Day is what you would picture as the perfect dog in so many aspects, she is good with people, with kids, with dogs, with cats. She has no food, toy or sleeping area possession or aggression issues of any kind. Days downfall is that since she lived so remote for so long, lots of things are new to her, and new things can be scary. She has always been a street dog, and hasn't been used to things like walking on a leash or walking in busy areas with new sounds that she doesn't know. A lovely volunteer has been working with Day, bringing her on weekly adventures and then to her apartment for some play and cuddle time. Day loves it. And within the past few months Day has started to really come out of her shell. The bonus in all this is that she does not show negative behaviours in regards to growling or biting if she is made uncomfortable, she is just simply scared and will retreat from a situation where things are moving at a pace that makes her uncomfortable ie. someone running up to greet her Day will kneel down when you approach her and try to touch her. She gets terrified if a stranger runs towards her so she runs away and hides. You must approach her with slow and tender moves otherwise she gets scared and may run away. Day is coming such a long way, and each time people go to visit the dogs, she comes closer and closer to greeting you with a smile on her face and her tail wagging so that she can say hi. She likes slow movements with people she has just met and when you greet her in her own time she thoroughly enjoys the love Day will need experienced owners who are patient with her and understand that Day will continue to need to be slowly introduced to new surroundings and not be rushed into places or interactions that she doesn't immediately want. She is very active and absolutely loves running, chasing lizards and playing with the ball. She would do great with an active and loving family with lots of walks in nature and access to open areas where she can run. She would do great with another dog to play with but is not a must. She loves to be pet, pampered and snuggled once she knows and trusts you. She is the sweetest girl in the whole world who just needs to be shown that she deserves to be a family member who is loved and cared for and not just a street dog. While yards are not usually deal breakers for us, it will be for a home for Day. Days home will need to have a fully fenced yard. This is because the first few days while her owners begin to bond with her we would recommend solely yard access for bathroom breaks and exercise to make it easier for them and her while she adjusts, and to avoid any huge frights she may find out on walks while she is still adjusting to her people. Days ideal home would be with active people who are dog experienced and can help her build her confidence and outgrow her fears. She would be happy in a home with another dog or a cat but again this is not a must. Older dog savvy children would also be a fine match for Day, but toddlers or young children would likely not due to unpredictability making her nervous. If you are interested in Day please reply with some info about yourself/ your home and we can set up a time to chat about Day further. |
Pepita (fka Bibi): Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet Bibi! Bibi is a 6 month old, 22 pound mixed breed. We assume that she is likely a terrier sort of mix. She is an adorable little low rider who almost looks like a corgi/ terrier mix ! She is the adopted sibling of a litter and mom that were rescued from a gas station off the side of a highway. Bibi had been abandoned so this mama took her in as her own. She was just one month older than the litter but a lot smaller. They were all starting to crawl, so we knew we had to get them out of there fast before they put themselves in danger and wandered toward the traffic. Mom took great care of them, however they were full of parasites and fleas. They have received treatment and are doing great now! This playful little girl currently lives with over 30 other dogs and gets along with everybody - dogs, adults, teenagers and children. She welcomes everyone she meets calmly and loves to play. Her leash training both on leash and off leash have been going very well. We are unsure of how she would do with cats as she has not been in direct contact with them, but she pays little attention to the cat area at the rescue so a cat household could be a possibility. She is partially house trained and doing very well, she does have constant access to the outdoors here though so she may need some guidance establishing the specific bathroom area in her new home. Bibi is very active, she loves the water, running around and playing with other dogs. An ideal home for her would be a very active family with kids, lots of nature adventures and an open space at home where she can run and play. This sweet girl would love to have another dog to play with, but this is not a must as long as she finds the perfect family. Bibi has such a sweet personality, if you are looking for an adventurous and affectionate pup, she would be a perfect addition to the family! Bibi can be on a flight into Seattle on April 2nd if an adoptive home is found by then |
Loba: Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Loba was given to us by a neighbour who found her and had been taking care of her for a couple months. She knew of the work we do and decided we could help Loba find the best life. Loba loves dogs and is an - in-your-face dog who wants to smother every dog with kisses. She also ADORES kids with her whole heart. She is a little shy with people at first and may give a growl or bark but would not hurt a fly and warms up very quickly. She is a sweet goofy girl who would make a fabulous family dog. |
Zorro: Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Hello ! My name is Zorro and while I may look as foxy as Antonia Banderas I assure you I am actually a dog, most likely a Papillon chihuahua mix of some kind. At only 3kg I am a very small little boy that could easily fit in a bag so you can bring me wherever you would like ! The vets think I am around 5 years old but I sometimes prefer to act like a grumpy old man. I love my foster family just being near their feet, or getting pets but I am also happy to go lay in the sun and relax too. I can even have a playful side, chasing humans feet as they walk. Life wasn't always so good for me. Earlier in my life I had a disease called distemper, I was lucky to survive it and it left me with a permanent tick in my right leg- my foster family tells me it looks like I am waving hello to everyone. Other than not being able to jump and sometimes having a few issues with balance it doesn't bother me much, I can still climb stairs and go on walks as long as the ground is even, the vets don't suspect it will have any effect on me long term aside from my "hello hand" While, I do not hate other dogs, I would prefer a home without them or with some calm dogs. If the others play too much around me I can get a little grumpy and may bark at them too but generally I just ignore the other dogs in my foster home. I sometimes bark at cats but I generally ignore them too, so I wouldn't mind some cats in my new family as long as they do not steal my bed! I am a funny kind of grumpy, they say that I'm all talk because while I will bark or give a growl it is just my tactic to get the weird energetic dogs to leave me alone. Older kids (over 10) who give me my space would be fine but young children would be a little too overwhelming for me I am hoping to find a calm and loving family that finds my strange little quirks endearing. Such as my occasional need to growl at a wall before peeing on it, or that I sometimes growl when I first go out the house walks because I am excited. While normally I am very cuddly and loving I do sometimes want my space and will let you know by gently growling when you try to pick me up or if you move too much in bed. I do this less as I get to know you and trust you. I will need a little more training in some areas and it will take a while before I fully trust and love strange humans so being patient with me is important. Despite all this I am actually quite an easy and happy little boy and my cuteness alone should make up for all my silly behaviour! Once I bond to a human I love them with all my heart and want to be with them or near them. |
Coco: Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Everyone meet Coco ! Coco is the sweetest 8 month old girl. She currently weighs 16kg and we think this is her full grown size. Our breed guess for Coco would be a Retriever/ English Setter mix, but again this is a guess based off of her look and her characteristics Coco was given to a lady by her boss, but the lady did not have the space to care for Coco as it was hard for her to afford caring for the dogs she already had. She called us and asked us to take Coco. Coco was in very good shape as the lady took good care of her until then. Coco has been with us for 2 months and she has been an amazing addition to the pack. She gets along with every single dog in the house, even our big reactive boys. She has been the big sister for a new puppy we took in. Her sweet demeanour draws all the pups into wanting to be her friend. Coco has been doing well on walks and barely pulls, she's a natural walker. When she sees other dogs she does get very excited and will bark, this is plainly out of excitement and not any negative reaction, but something her new family will need to work on with her. Coco also needs a bit of work on jumping up to say hello, as well as play nibbling on your hands and feet. These little behaviours are simply because she loves you ang cant quite contain all that love, so she will need to be shown better ways to express her love for her people. Coco is an extremely intelligent girl, she learned to sit within her first hour in the house. She would thrive with an active family who could bring her on long walks, runs, hikes etc. She is still a puppy so will mellow out but she is a medium-high energy girl right now. Coco also loves to cuddle with her people in her relax time. Coco loves all people but can be a little shy at first, more so with men than with women, but she is really coming out of her shell and getting more confident every day. She would do well with pretty much any type of family whether it be a single person, a couple or a large family. Because she does like to jump and play nibble we would say older children, solely because we don't want this to be interpreted as her trying to hurt a small child as she really doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. We would say dog savvy children over 7 or 8. Because of how much Coco loves the other dogs in the house and really learns from them, Coco is a dog who would prefer to be in a home with another dog. We are unsure how she would be with cats and would have to cat test her. Coco can be on one of our next flights in Seattle in the coming month. If you are interested in adopting our little Coco, please reply with some info about yourself/ your family Adoption fee covers flight, spay/neuter, vaccines, heart worm testing & de worming |
Forrest (fka Kevin): Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Hello friend! I’m Kevin. I’m about 5 months old and weigh only 12kg (for now). I'm growing very quickly and grow about 2-3 kg each vet visit. My people think I could be a lab/pitbull/ great dane mix of sorts. I wont be quite as big as a great dane, but they think I will be anywhere from 65- 90 pounds full grown (maybe a little bigger, maybe a little smaller, hard to know since we dont know who my dad was) I was found up in the mountains with a mama dog and her puppies who were much younger than me. I don't know where my birth mama went, but this mama dog adopted me and took care of me like I was one of her own which is how I ended up surviving. I’m a (quickly) growing boy and will eat alllllll my food and love to play. For being a young puppy, I can actually be quite relaxed at home. When we go on walks I might bark at strange dogs or people because I’m super excited and still learning about the outside world. When we go in the car, I like to lay down but sometimes I don’t feel so good and might get sick. At night, I love to snuggle up in bed close to my human. You can bring me with you on your outings or I can stay at home too. I’m around a lot of small puppies and sometimes I forget that I’m much bigger than I really am since I love to play with them. I would be happy in a home with an active family who can continue to train me to be the best boy. Other dogs and kids would be cool too, I think I would be okay with cats we would just have to double check Can’t wait to keep exploring with you! Kevin can be on one of our next flights in Seattle in the coming month. If you are interested in adopting our little Kevin, please reply with some info about yourself/ your family Adoption fee covers flight, spay/neuter, vaccines, heart worm testing & de worming |
Puma : Adopted !! April 2nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Hi hi hi! I’m Puma, a small little chunk of chihuahua and pug mix. I’m about 5 months old and 4kg so I have lots of energy to play with humans and dogs. But I also like to take naps so if you want to go out for food or a drink I will come with you and sleep on your lap. Or I’ll sleep in your bed while you’re gone. I’m fine to be at home alone sometimes as long as I get enough exercise. Even though I’m small with short legs, I can go on long walks and adventures with you! When I meet new people and dog friends sometimes I’m a little shy at first but usually warm up to them quickly. I love toys and sharing toys with my dog friends. Remember, I’m still a puppy so I might steal a sock or two to nibble on but with a little training I’ll be your best good friend! I like dogs, kids and think I could possibly be okay with cats too. Puma can be on one of our next flights in Seattle in the coming month. If you are interested in adopting our little Puma, please reply with some info about yourself/ your family Adoption fee covers flight, spay/neuter, vaccines, heart worm testing & de worming |
Max: Adopted !! March 15th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Everyone meet Max ! Maximus (Max) is a 22kg, three year old dog. His is a mastiff mix although quite small (mom was a full mastiff, unknown of Dad) He is a caring, affectionate dog who enjoys adult human attention. Max had a bit of a hard time adjusting to the new child in his home so he has been placed into a foster home and is looker for either a child free home or a home with older dog savvy children over the age of 10 Here is what his new foster has to say : Maxx is really well mannered he responds quickly to correction, touch, sit, down, heal (she had said he walked poorly) he walked like a charm with me. There is anxiety present in the home. I believe this is a huge factor. Max does well off lead and with recall, is able to trail walk and return. I’ll know more about chasing squirls and rabbits later this week. When around the baby in his old home he wasn’t fixated, or worried about what she was doing. I had my daughter 8 (dog friendly trained) introduce herself. There was some excitement on Maxx’s part, a jump up. She stepped into him and asked him to sit and he did so right away. When he broke sit with her she was able to uhh uhh him and he sat again, she waited until he was calm and pet him under chin, she also fed him treats. I stood away with max and asked my daughter to get excited and run around. Maxx took a step back started to bark, as she got louder he lunged. Now this lunge was an uneasy lunge, not one with confidence and aggression. She stopped called him in to a sit and he sat. High activity and anxiety he needs to learn calm, or be with a calm confidant person. If this dog was to be rehomed today, it ideally would be with someone with older children, he would do well in a home that love the great outdoors, roller blading, running, walking him, hiking. He has a lot of pent up energy that I feel is being misdirected. He would be an absolute joy to own. The work that has been done, you can see it, he’s a happy guy, I think with proper introductions he would be ok with other dogs in a stable home. " Original posting : Max is food motivated and enjoys training. Max shows anxiety with other dogs and some new things, but has done much training for this and with the right handler can continue to improve greatly. Max lived with many dogs when he was younger (6+ in his foster home) and currently does live with one other dog who he gets along with He does still have a hard time with new dogs so his people would have to continue working on positive interactions with him to build his confidence. While Max would likely prefer to be the only dog we would not rule out a home with another well adjusted medium/large dog if it were the right people. His humans would need to understand that it will take proper intros, time and effort to adjust Max to the other dog in the home. Max's reaction are out of anxiety and not an issue with dominance He is not a dog park dog. Max needs a cat free home. Max has seasonal allergies that show with itchy skin. These are easily managed with prednisone. He also had a tooth removed because he cracked it on a bone, and so he now enjoys chewing tennis balls instead of bones. Max is up to date on all of his shots and is neutered. Max loves walks, hikes, runs, and the occasional off leash sprint. He does well with consistent and repetitive instruction. Max is also food motivated. Max also loves lazy days at home. He looks to you for reassurance outside and inside the home, and gives the world's best cuddles. He loves laying on the couch and watching TV with you. Max's ideal home would be with people who are experienced dog owners, and who don't have too many life changes as he likes consistency. He would thrive with people who continue to train him and work on his challenges with him. Fairly active people, and a yard would be a bonus. Max is currently in Edmonton, Alberta and will be transported back to BC in 2.5 weeks where he will be adoptable. Max would be available to go directly into a foster to adopt situation or would be available for meets from a foster if a foster to adopt is not found by the time he gets back to BC |
Max: Adopted !! March 13th, 2021
Max has been with his mom for just over two months now living the good life in Vancouver Canada. He adores his mom and goes on daily adventures with her all around the city. He has been such a great addition to his moms life as well.
ORIGINAL STORY Max came to us once before. He was on the streets alone, dirty and skinny. We took him in and a couple weeks later some of the kids in the colonia saw him and said he belonged to their friends who had been looking for him. We think that the parents dumped Max, but since their kids were upset they came and asked for Max back. Fast forward two weeks, we saw a post on facebook that someone had found a little dog, two colonias over who was drowning in the river- it was Max. We believe that his family once again dumped him, but this time far away so their kids would not see him and want him back. Max is a sweet boy, he is active, loves cuddles and play time. He loves people and other dogs, and could be okay with cats. He is 2-3 years old and is a chihuahua terrier mix of sorts weighing 1o pounds. |

Tessa (fka Fleur): Adopted !! March 13th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
We brought Fleur and her sister home to our rescue when we heard about a large group of 50+ dogs abandoned and breeding in a mountain property inland of Puerto Vallarta. Fleur was a 6 month puppy who was very underweight with very poor blood levels, she was starving. She was also very dirty, covered in huge fleas and ticks. We believe they were born outside in very poor circumstances and by their own will were able to find a way to survive. It became clear to us they had not met many people or experienced much kindness before. However, they soon became comfortable and loving with all our volunteers. Fleur now sleeps in bed with her favorite volunteer and a few of her best dog friends. Introducing her to our pack of 20 dogs, took patience and understanding as she still had some fearfulness from her former life. With new dogs she can be a little weary, however after the initial fright and some barking reactions, she has become friends with every dog at our rescue and has many playmates. Walking on a leash was also entirely foreign to her upon arrival. At the site of a leash or harness she would lay on the ground and wet herself. Now, just a few weeks later Fleur goes on at least two 30-60 minute walks a day. She waits at the gate in her seated position she knows is required before leaving. She has been trained to sit and wait at traffic intersections and when she pulls from excitement. Her off leash training is also going well and she now runs and plays on the beach with her friends. Her development and eagerness to learn has impressed us all. We consider her a very loyal and trainable dog (especially with treats) . She will need a home that is dedicated to her continued training, guidance and socialization so she can be the perfect behaved dog we know she can be. She is a happy and silly puppy that is always making us laugh and smile. She loves tossing her toys for herself and chasing them as well as laying down and gnawing on them. She is accustomed to having many friends at home, however we think Fleur could also do well in a home without other dogs because she is very good at keeping herself entertained. We would like to find her home that will show her all the love and compassion she deserves with someone who appreciates how special she is. If this sounds like a perfect fit for you please reply with some info about yourself and your home |
Bella: Adopted !! March 13th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
It’s not the first time they have done the trip. Lupita sometimes needs to go to Guadalajara for medical appointments and Irina often goes with her. They take the old highway and they almost always stop at the same gas station. They have gotten to know some of the employees as this is a location where people dump dogs. Those that work there try to help as they can. One employee has adopted 6 dumped dogs over the years. Some others have found homes and others have lost their lives on the busy highway. Lupita & Irina rescued MexPup Magna from this location back in early 2019. On December 1st as they were driving back from GDL they stopped and saw a small scruffy dog roaming around. One employee, Paty, told them that she had been dumped about 1 month before. She wasn’t a street dog, and it wasn’t easy living at a gas station on the side of a busy highway. Lupita sent me a text and asked if we could help. She will be having surgery in 6 weeks, so she needed to know that when she wasn’t able someone could step in to take over care until the pup was healthy and a forever home could be found. We told her to pick up Pelusa and we would work with her. Then she sent a video…adorable puppies with huge parasite bellies. It was just heartbreaking. There was a mom, Bella, who had given birth to 9 puppies just 2 meters from the highway. The workers were so worried for the mom and the puppies. They worried that as the momma roamed for food, she would be hit and not be able to return to her puppies. They did what they could, but it was far from ideal. Then about 1 month ago another young puppy was dumped at the station. Thankfully, the humans left the puppy near Bella and this amazing mom took in the new pup like it was her own, feeding her and making her a part of their pack. The workers were able to find homes for 4 of the puppies. Maybe those pups left their mom to young, but you do what you can to help as you can within the limitations that you have. This is real life, and we are grateful to Paty & the other employees for always doing their best to help. That left momma Bella along with her 6 puppies (5 from her litter and the adopted one). Our response…. get the mom and the puppies. Do we have the funds or the space or a plan? Nope. But when you know they are in constant danger and have little chance for a future, when two animals lovers that are always helping those in need ask, when you see that video and know how close they are to speeding cars every moment of every day, you just say yes. They got a large box from the store and rearranged the car, they took out a scarf to make a leash, got help from one of the employees that had befriended the family, and started to load the momma Bella and the puppies. As Bella walked to the car, the adopted one trotted alongside. If her new mom was leaving, she was going along for the ride. We are grateful to volunteer Claudia who already has double digit fosters but didn't hesitate to make space for this family. Bella and the babies were at the vets yesterday and things are ok. Bella is about 3 years old, her pups are about 1.5 months and the adopted one is between 7 to 8 weeks old. They have the normal bad stuff (parasites, fleas, ticks), but thankfully tested negative for the really scary stuff. It is still early in their care and we need to be cautious, but we are also optimistic. We know they are in a safe place with food, water, medical care, and love, but we need your help |

Roo (fka Mimi): Adopted !! March 13th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Mimi is a beautiful pit bull mix, all black in colour who is about 4 years old and 20kgs. She was abandoned in the streets of Guadalajara, Mexico and now lives at a dog rescue/sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta with 20 other dogs! She was friendly to all the dogs upon arrival and did not show any shyness or timidity when meeting them. She was quite nervous to meet us volunteers after her abandonment and mistreatment from humans before. After a short amount of time, she warmed up and started giving all the hugs and kisses. It takes mimi about 3 days of time/patience and good snacks for her to realize you're worth her kisses ! Mimi is just as happy to play as she is to snuggle up and nap. She has been through a lot and has remained so tender and sweet through it all. On walks and at home she is an absolute delight. She is timid in new situations and with new people but her confidence has really been shining lately and we are all so proud of her. Today she even went straight up to a lady on the beach to say hello and get some pets ! Mimi shows absolutely no reactive or aggressive signs of any sort, she is just simply a timid girl when first meeting her. She is used to walking with other dogs and is especially fond of the medium to large size male dogs for play mates. Her best friend is one of our biggest boys who is quite picky with the dogs he spends his time with, and he tolerated all of Mimis face licks. Mimi is an absolute delight to have around, very easy going, potty-trained and quite calm. When given the proper love and care Mimi will surely bring so much happiness and joy to you everyday. Mimi is so beautiful and loving and deserves the absolute best in life. |
Chocolata: Adopted !! Feb 26th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet Chocolata! She is approx 3 years old, and weighs 15kg (33 pounds). She is a mexican mixed breed of pure perfection. She was part of a pack of 5 dogs that lived on the streets, they had an owner who lived on a lot, a very poor man who fed pigs, they would follow him early in the morning to get waste for the pigs and then he would let them there on the streets to fend for themselves. We asked the owner to allow us to take them to be spayed and neutered and he agreed, they were not in great shape and had severe pneumonia, we treated them and returned them to the owner as at the time we just didn't have space. In the mornings they went with him and in the afternoons they came back to us for food until one day the owner disappeared and never came back for them. Chocolata is what you would picture as the perfect dog in so many aspects, she is good with people, with kids, with dogs, with cats. She has no food, toy or sleeping area possession or aggression issues of any kind. Chocolatas only downfall is that up until a couple weeks ago she had never been inside of a house so she gets nervous in the vet or in new spaces. She has always been a street dog, and hasn't been used to things like walking on a leash or walking in busy areas with new sounds that she doesn't know. We are continuing to bring her to new places such as the beach, and she has recently gone into foster with our founder Patty and her 3 dogs. Within a couple days she has started to already come out of her shell, enjoying toys and playing with the other dogs. Walks are hard for chocolata, she isn't not in any way reactive, but she is quite scared and very nervous on her walks and with new things. Usually her walks entail walking a block or so, and then having to be carried to the beach, she enjoys the beach and lately has been walking almost the whole way back home. Chocolata will need experienced owners who are patient with her and understand that Chocolata will continue to need to be slowly introduced to new surroundings and not be rushed into places or interactions that she doesn't immediately want. She is very active and absolutely loves running, chasing lizards and playing with the ball. She would do great with an active and loving family with lots of walks in nature and access to open areas where she can run. She would do great with another dog to play with but is not a must. She loves to be pet and pampered. She is the sweetest girl in the whole world who just needs to be shown that she deserves to be a family member who is loved and cared for and not just a street dog. While yards are not usually deal breakers for us, it will be for a home for Chocolata. Chocolata's home will need to have a fully fenced yard. This is because the first few days while her owners begin to bond with her we would recommend solely yard access for bathroom breaks and exercise to make it easier for them and her while she adjusts, and to avoid any huge frights she may find out on walks while she is still adjusting to her people. Chocolata’s ideal home would be with active people who are dog experienced and can help her build her confidence and outgrow her fears. She would be happy in a home with another dog or a cat but again this is not a must. Older dog savvy children would also be a fine match for Chocolata, but toddlers or young children would likely not due to unpredictability making her nervous. |
Betty: Adopted !! Feb 26th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Say hello to Betty, one of the cutest and sweetest little dogs you will ever meet. She loves to play, walks in snuggle with both humans and her doggie friends. Betty is around 2 years old and only 3kg. She has an adorable short little nose, scruffy fur and a skinny long body, she looks like she could be a terrier/ chihuahua/ Italian greyhound. Betty came into our care with her one puppy. Her puppy has since been adopted and now its mama Bettys turn ! Betty is a pretty easy going girl, as long as she has some doggie friends to play with and snuggle and some humans to give her love she will be happy. She has just started to go on walks and loves them but needs a little more training to be perfect on the leash. Regardless she is still a pleasure to walk with as she enjoys every second. Betty recently had surgery on her leg for something called luxating patella. Its a super common thing in smaller dogs where the grove for the ligament in your leg isnt deep enough so it causes the knee to wabble. Her's was super minor, but the vet can cost a lot of money is America so we chose to do the operation here where it is cheaper. Betty got pretty much fully back to normal within a couple days. The vets dont anticipate any future problems for the remainder of Bettys life in relation to her operation. If you would like to add this beautiful, fun loving and sweet little girl to your family then please respond to this ad with info about yourself/ your home to be considered |
Beans (fka Rex): Adopted !! Feb 26th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Everyone, meet Rex! Rex is a 5 month old, 32 pound border collie, lab, hound mix, mama looked like a sighthound. Rex will likely grow to be quite a big boy, our guess is around the 60 pound range. We received a call about a wandering Mother and her 3 puppies, in danger of being hurt by trucks and machinery. The Mom was extremely shy, and of course reluctant to let anyone near her pups. But we were able to rescue all of them! They had parasites and fleas which has been treated, but otherwise they were in very good shape as their mother took great care of them. Rex shows great behaviour toward all, including adults, children and other dogs. He has been exposed to both on leash and off leash environments and is doing very well with both. He is a very welcoming pup and has a playful personality. He has not been in direct contact with cats, but when he is near the cat area at the rescue, he just looks at them with no reaction. So a home with a cat may be an option. He is not a huge fan of water but does okay with it. Rex is very active and absolutely loves running and playing with other dogs and children. He would do great in an active and loving family that loves to give him affection and take him on adventures. A household with other dogs or children as playmates would be ideal for this sweet pup. If you are interested in Rex please reply with info bout yourself/ your home. |
Sappho (fka Maggie): Adopted !! Feb 26th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Everyone, meet Maggie ! Maggie is a 9 month old, 27 pound whippet mix of sorts. She was found tied in an empty, dark alley, crying out desperately. She was very skinny, had thousands of parasites and was full of ticks. She was given treatment and put on a meal plan to gain weight. She is now doing great! Maggie does great with everyone, including adults, children and other dogs. However she can get anxious around cats so a cat free household would be best. She loves to share her toys with other dogs and shows no destructive behaviour around the house. She has her own food bowl and eats separately because she does not like to share food with other dogs, this is something she can improve on, given the right guidance to show her that she no longer needs to guard her food Maggie is a very active, playful pup who loves to run and play with her ball. She would do great with active teenagers and a family that loves outdoor adventures. She would do well both as the only dog in her household, and also with other dogs as she loves to play. A loving home full of lots of playtime, adventures and affection would be ideal for this sweet girl. If you are interested in Maggie please reply with info bout yourself/ your home. |
Jasper: Adopted !! Feb 26th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Back in October some of the volunteers were playing with a bunch of our dogs in a big field when Jasper appeared out of nowhere and seamlessly jumped into the game. He followed us all the way home (a very long way including across a busy highway) so we let him stay with us but we presumed he had an owner because he was already sterilized and an absolute delight, so we set about locating his loving family. We finally found them after around 10 days, and spoke with the owner on the phone, he explained that the local community had sterilized Jasper at a free clinic it was nothing to do with him, and actually he hadn’t even noticed he was missing and didn’t really care if we gave him back or not. This is NOT the kind of family or life that Jasper deserves, so he stayed with us. Jasper is only around 18 months and weighs 27kg (60 pounds). He is absolutely fantastic with dogs of any size - his foster mum has a 70kg Great Dane who normally doesn’t accept larger males but he is absolutely in love with Jasper. He also lives with two chihuahuas under 4kg and he is perfect with those too. He’s great at the dog park and meeting loose dogs he doesn’t know on trails or on the beach. He adores kids, especially little ones, but he does get excited and jump up a lot for love and kisses so older kids or kids that will be constantly supervised only. Jasper is amazing off leash and he loves hiking and running, but is constantly checking in to see that you are still with him. He is satisfied with a 20 minute run around the park with his ball and playing with his toys if his foster mum can’t do a hike every day as long as he gets a million cuddles - he cannot compromise on cuddles. Jasper will listen if you tell him he isn’t allowed to be on the furniture and will go and relax in his bed, he will also go off and chill in the other room and doesn’t display any separation anxiety even though he does absolutely love affection. Jasper truly is such a wonderful dog, his only challenges besides jumping up are that he does have a pretty high prey drive for cats birds and rabbits so he needs to be in a dog only home. He also is extremely food motivated which is great for training but it also means he will try and find any way into the dog food (he figured out how to headbutt the cupboard at the perfect speed and velocity to get access to the kibble when mum was out) or even on occasion the trash if there are particularly desirable foodscraps in the top. Jasper is healthy now after a course of antibiotics to improve his blood values and is ready for his forever home. His foster mum says that if she had unlimited space time and money she would keep him without a second thought, but she knows that he will make a family incredibly happy and once he is adopted it means there is a space in her house for another sad dog in need of help who will eventually make a different family just as happy - so even though letting Jasper go will be tough, it’s part of the circle of life in fostering. |
Lina: Adopted !! Feb 26th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet Lina! Lina is a 5 month old, 34 pound Transylvanian Hound mix . We received a call about Lina's wandering Mother with her 3 puppies, in danger of being hurt by trucks and machinery. The Mom was extremely shy, and ofocurse reluctant to let anyone near her pups. But we were able to rescue all three puppies and Mom! They had parasites and fleas which they have received treatment for, but otherwise they were in very good shape as their mother took great care of them. Lina shows great behaviour toward all, including adults, children and other dogs. She has been exposed to both on leash and off leash environments and is doing very well with both. If you are searching for your next adventure companion and have a cat fee household, Lina may be the dog for you! |
ANDRES: Adopted !! Feb 22nd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
UPDATE: Andres is still in search of his perfect forever home. Andres is currently in a Victoria foster. This is what his foster mom has to say about this special boy: "Andreas is an extremely sweet loving dog, as long as he's let you into his bubble and on his terms. He is not an instant family pet.. He is a very very fearful boy, who requires time and a ton of patience before he will let you close to him. He is afraid of men and children as they are unpredictable in his eyes, so a home with children would not suit him. It would take him a little longer to trust a man but he can still definitely be adopted to a man. He is muzzle trained, & knows if I grab it we're going for a walk. He has improved his reactions to people and other dogs that we pass but likes his space, he does not like high energy dogs especially in his face. If Andres feels like his boundaries are being pushed he will go into fight or flight and try to bite, not out of aggression, but out of fear. Time and a whole lot of patience is needed for this sweet boy. If you are willing to earn his trust and he let's you in, you will get the most amazing, loving, goofy boy. " We would not classify Andres as an aggressive dog as his reactions come solely from a place of fear/ anxiety. Andres is an extremely sweet and loyal boy and just needs an experienced dog owner to help him navigate his way through his fears. Currently Andres goes on pack dog walks to increase his socialization and does well. As long as dogs are not in his face then he does well after proper introductions. He could potentially do well in a home with another well mannered calm dog. We are in high hopes that the perfect home for Andres is out there waiting for him, as we know he is patiently waiting for them too. If you are interested in submitting an application for Andres you can do so on our website mexpup.com, or by emailing [email protected] ORIGINAL POST: Claudia was walking with her pack when they found 3 puppies in a trash pile. They had recently picked up a different puppy from this same area that looked very similar to the 3. They thought the first puppy was just lost and had been looking for the owner but finding the 3 new puppies changed that idea. They started to ask around to figure out what was happening. A neighbor told them that their very poor owner had thrown all 4 of the puppies onto the street. They were only 2 months old, but they were now abandoned and fending for themselves. Claudia immediately took them in and got them to the vets. They were full of parasites and very hungry, but thankfully tested negative for the real scary stuff. Andres is the male of the litter and has a brindle coat. He is now about 1 year old and weighs 21 kilos. Andres is a shy boy when first getting to know people. Once he trusts, he is very friendly and loves cuddles. He has done great with all the dogs in his foster home, whether large or small. Andres also does great with the teenager in his foster home and does well when meeting children as long as he has time and space to get to know them. Andres does well with cats and is fine with the 2 hens & 1 rooster in his foster. When asked what his ideal forever home would be, his foster mom said “Andres would do great with kids of any age or an active couple. He loves walks, loves water, climbing and a little digging. He likes climbing rocks and piles of blocks so she would do great on hiking and river adventures. Ideally with another dog to play with.” Andres is happy, healthy and ready for adoption. The low season is over and we have a chance to get him onto the next part of his journey. Please share his album so we can find a match (foster or adopter) for this awesome dog so he can be on the November 3rd flight to Vancouver, BC. If you or someone you know could be the right one for Andres, please complete an adoption application found at www.mexpup.com. This guy is ready to start his future with his forever family and we certainly want to make that happen! |
Callie: Adopted !! Jan 30th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
If you are looking for a small, playful and loving dog, Callie is your pick! Callie is looking for an active home, where she gets to play a lot and get a lot of cuddles and kisses! She is a small scruffy dog who will charm you with her beautiful eyes and playful character. She is around 10 months old female and weights around 6 kgs. Her scruffy fur is a mix of grey, black and beige. Callie was found running around on a busy street alone, but she was in a good shape from the beginning. She is such a loving girl who loves people and other dogs. She is really playful and plays with dog all sizes – big, small, medium, puppies, males and females. She hasn’t met a dog she wouldn’t like! Since she gets along so well with other dogs, would be nice she would have a dog friends to play with. She got a lot of energy so ideally she would have a home where she gets to play and run a lot. Callie loves to go on walks and gets super excited to go out. Sometimes when she gets really excited, she can bark especially on the beginning of the walk. On the walks she would like to explore, sniff and say hi to everyone so she can be a little bit pulling, but this is something we have been training her with. We have walked her with easy walk harness, which has been really helpful on her leash training. Callie goes on walks usually with other dogs. In the house Callie loves to play with toys, other dogs and people. She is really cuddly and sleeps now in a bed with people and other dogs. She might bark at new visitors in a house at first, but in a few minutes, she is your best friend. Her housetraining has been quite successful, but she might still need a refresher training in her new home. She hasn’t had accidents at night, as long as she can get out the first thing after waking up in the mornings. She is still a young dog and she seems to be fast to learn. |

Sirius: Adopted !! Jan 30th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet Sirius the silky black boy named for the beautiful white star on his chest. This small boy in only 11kg but looks like a very petite lab with some brown brindle patches too. He still has some puppy characteristics at just a 1 and a half years: he loves to play with his doggies friends and can also spend a long time napping too! Sirius was found abandoned living down a dark street- a dangerous place for a black dog at night- so some kind strangers rescued him and brought him to us. At some point he was probably in a car accident as he has on old hip injury but it doesn't seem to stop him from running, walking or playing with his friends, and the vets say he shouldn't have any further issues During the day Sirius loves to nap in the sun or play with his dog friends. He also loves to go on walks, but needs a bit more practice before he becomes a really good walker- he had never even had a collar before he was rescued so he is doing very well. Sirius would love to live in a home with another smallish and playful dog preferably female, but he would also do well as an only dog as long as his new family had the time to play with him. We did cat test Sirius and he was interested in the cats but did not at any point try to chase them, he backed away and avoided when they walked in his direction so we feel confident that with some proper introductions and training he could co exist with cats While Sirius doesn't need constant attention he does like to know that he can be near his humans throughout the day. If he is left alone at any point, while he doesn't destroy anything, he does bark for quite sometime before he calms down. With practice this might improve but his new family should be willing to work with him on some separation anxiety and have understanding neighbours. Sirius is a sweet and loving boy that is ready to have his own family. |
Dorothy (fka Peaches): Adopted !! Jan 30th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Peaches is a 5-month-old mix puppy with a soft all white coat with small apricot-colored spots. She arrived at the rescue with her sister Apricots. The two girls were completed covered in bugs like some of us had ever seen. They were completely starved with bellies bloated to the floor. Their blood levels were scary, making a general poor condition that concerned us all. Apricot and Peaches made a full recovery and are special survivors, now healthy, happy and completely full of love. They have been playful and affectionate from the start each adoring cuddles, playtime and new experiences. As she has begun going on daily walks Peaches shows excitement and confidence on her outings. She is very impressive on leash and in all of her training. She picked up potty training and ‘sit’ almost immediately. With a little guidance and training we believe she will grow into a perfect dog and family member for your home. Peaches is estimated to reach a small-medium size, she grows every day and very fast so could end up being larger. She currently weighs about 5kgs. She is used to eating three times a day and going on at least two walks a day. She loves her walks very much and needs a family who enjoys taking their dog out and about as well as cuddling her all night. We think she will need a family dedicated to her socialization and development as a puppy. She is not accustomed to being alone and may need time and patience until she is comfortable in a new home. She has expressed some timidness around energetic children and would be best with either older or more gentle children, if any. She loves other dogs and has many friends she enjoys playing with, so if a proper introduction is made, we think she would do well in a hope with another dog. She sleeps in a bed with other dogs and a person, she has not had any accidents in the bedroom and sleeps through the night peacefully. Apricot is an absolute delight, a perfect loving puppy. She needs a home that will appreciate her every day and spoil her with love and kindness. She loves being with people and collecting attention and we all adore her to pieces her at the rescue. |

Bobby: Adopted !! Jan 30th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Meet Bobby ! Bobby is a 6 month old, 33 pound lab/black mouth cur mix of sorts. He was left in a box at our door along with 5 of his litter mates. The puppies were all dirty, full of fleas and ticks. They have gotten the treatment that they needed and are doing great now! Bobby shares his environment with teenagers, kids and 10 other dogs, he does really well with everyone, always welcomes them into his home with a calm energy. However, he does get anxious around cats. He has been exposed to both on-leash and off-leash environments and does great with both! He loves to share his toys with other dogs, but he is not so keen on sharing food (we can't blame him when he lives with 20 other dogs). He will need a confident owner who can work with him on his behaviour with guarding food, as he can likely be trained out of it quite easily since hes a pup. He may look for things to chew on as he has been teething, but this is expected with younger pups. Bobby lovesss to play so would do very well with a playful companion but may annoy a lazier pup We think Bobby would do best in an active family with teenagers or kids, and other dogs as he is a very social. He loves to play all day with his friends at the shelter. He loves water and mud so he would make a great hiking companion! An active, cat free household would be ideal. This beautiful boy has a lot of love and affection to give to the right family! |
Cinder: Adopted !! Jan 27th, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Cinder is available for adoption in BC ! You can read Cinders original story below. Cinder is a sweet almost 1.5 year old girl. We think Cinder may be a furry xolo mix of sorts. She currently weighs 45 pounds. Our lovely friend Sam noticed a dog laying by the side of the road right along the bus route in old town a few times over the weekend. Each time he could see she was in pretty rough shape but he had 3 dogs with him on leashes so couldn’t really investigate closely. On Monday, he and Grace, another of our friends, set out to find her. As soon as Sam and Grace found her and could take a good look, they saw she was in a worse state than they realized. They asked around and those in the area said she wasn’t a local dog and they presumed she had recently been dumped as she simply showed up one day. She didn’t really move from where she was originally seen (like many dumped dogs, they wait thinking their owners will come back to get them). Not only is she bleeding from various sores and scrapes all over her body, clearly suffering from mange, and has a ring of scar tissue and missing fur around her neck indicating she has been tightly tied to something, she is also sadly in heat. We presume that whoever owned her saw that she had come into heat, knew she would become pregnant pretty soon, and dumped her in the middle of town to ensure she became somebody else’s problem. Leaving her there to become pregnant and suffer more was not an option - so Grace ducked into a nearby vet and bought her a leash and started walking her to the vet. Cinder would do great in just about any home so long as there are no cats. She does great with other dogs, people and children. Cinder has not shown any destructiveness. She shares her toys with the other dogs and does not resource guard. She has been doing well walking on leash. She does know where to go to the bathroom in her foster but does have constant access to this area so may need some reminding She is an active girl so she will need a family who will take her on adventures and log walks. She absolutely loves to run and play with the ball. |
Lucia (fka Grissel): Adopted !! Jan 23rd, 2021
ORIGINAL STORY
Grisell is a sweet 11 month old girl. We think Grisell may be a hound mix of sorts. She currently weighs 40 pounds. Grisell was taken from a family who was neglecting her. She was treated for flees and ticks but overall was in okay shape Grisell would do great in just about any home so long as there are no cats. She does great with other dogs, people and children. In fact she loves kids. She will however try to eat their toys so supervision with kids toys is required. She has shown some destructive behaviour but she is still a puppy and is learning. She does know where to go to the bathroom in her foster but does have constant access to this area so may need some reminding She has not shown any posessive behaviours or resource guarding Grisell likes to play in water and loves to run, she will need an active home. She is her fosters “party girl”, the entire world is so exciting to her. She is an active girl so she will need a family who will take her on adventures and log walks, preferably a family with another dog to keep her entertained. Grisell will be flying to Comox BC, on January 22nd. Because we know that a placement will be done quite quickly, we are open to fostering with the intention to adopt. Bonus would be for adopters to be able to drive to pick Grisell up on the chance that we cannot find a volunteer to transport her from Comox. Adoptive homes will be considered first however if we cannot place her by her arrival a foster will be needed |
