Went to their FURever homes in 2024
PANELA
Panela and her brother Tiny Tim had a really rough ride at first. Originally a wonderful person reached out to us informing us that there were a litter of 7 tiny shepherd mix puppies on the street and that 3 of them had already been run over and killed in traffic, they were able to save the remaining 4 and we were able to take 2 of the puppies - Tiny Tim and a sister who we named Mina and another rescue took the other 2 - Panela and anothre. Their blood values were absolutely abysmal, their organs were failing and sadly it was too late for Tiny Tim's sibling. Even with a blood transfusion from one of our big healthy dogs she didn’t make it. We couldn’t save her but we tried very hard as did our vets, and we tried to take solace in the fact that she knew love and warmth in her final days. We were still in contact with their rescuers who were also very sad to learn about Mina’s passing, and told us that one of the two that had gone to another rescue had also died. Tiny Tim had started to improve and since each of the sibling pairs were now all alone, we asked whether we could reunite them so that they could lean on each other as well as us for morale and healing.
So Tiny Tim and Panela were reunited and both began to really thrive and are now happy, squishy, bouncy, fun, and healthy puppies weighing about 15kg each and are roughly 7 months old.
Panela is a girl and has the darker face of the two siblings, she is so silly and playful and just a joy to be around. She is the more shy of the two siblings and we have been working on building her confidence out in the world and she is coming on leaps and bounds. Sometimes if lots of things are happening all at once (screaming children running full speed towards her, big scary trucks passing by, and rogue chickens jumping out from under cars for example) she will get stressed and want to stop walking, but she loves walking with an older or more confident dog so she can copy them and take on whatever the world throws at her. When we first got her she was a little scared of big male dogs, but with a gentle introduction she soon loves them.
Since she has been going to doggy daycare ran by our dog trainer this has pretty much gone away and she is really flourishing into a confident dog who loves to lay down and hang out at cafes and go on boat adventures to the beach. Both puppies are so sweet and cuddly and above all else love to play
with their dog and human friends and then take a well deserved nap.
Panela can be on a flight into Vancouver once and adoptive home is found. Her adoption fee of $550 includes flight, spay, full vetting and vaccines

LAYLA
Being the person in charge of an animal shelter is quite hard and emotional; they must make daily decisions about who to help and when, along with assessing a variety of situations. That doesn’t even consider what they see on the streets themselves, and when they must pick up an animal in need and take them to a safe place. Sometimes it seems there is no decision to make as a dog just shows up at the shelter door, presumably dropped off by someone. This was the case of this dog, barely a year old and already being rejected. She was skinny, full of fleas, and filthy. When Nayeli saw her at the door, she welcomed her to the shelter and immediately took her to get checked by a Vet where tests were done, and very much needed grooming was provided. Fortunately, when the tests came back it showed that besides being malnourished, she did not carry any of the scary illnesses. She was ready for the needed care and nurturing to start her new life.
Layla is a Spaniel mix female; she is almost 2 years old and weighs approximately 15.5 kilos.
Layla is a sweet, loving, and docile girl who gets along well with adults and children, as well as other dogs in the shelter. She has not been exposed to cats but can be tested if needed. She behaves well in car rides and very much loves her daily walks doing well on the leash. Since her history is unknown, we assume she had to fight for her food as she still growls when she is eating if another dog comes close to her bowl. We also believe she lacked love and attention, as she now loves getting it all for herself and sometimes barks at other dogs when they come close to her favourite human. We think she would be best in a home where she is the only dog, so she does not have to share all the love and attention. She is a medium energy dog that would thrive with a small yard or going on daily walks; maybe some children to play with would be ideal.
The adoption fee for Layla is $550 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Layla to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

HALLE & DAISY
Some people have huge hearts and take care of more animals than the average family would consider. Sadly, life can change in a second leaving the person vulnerable and dependent after a heart attack at 92. This was sadly the case of Jesus, the father of Norma, a long-time animal rescuer in the Puerto Vallarta area and a big supporter of MexPup. Norma also has a lot of animals in her home and cannot take all of those that her father has, so she reached out to MexPup and asked if we could help her place a bonded pair. Halle was originally rescued by Jesus when he saw her running loose on the streets in great danger of being hit by a car. He knew he had to help her so he walked towards her as fast as he could and thankfully, he was able to catch her. A few months later, Jesus noticed a neighbor had a dog that she did not take care of at all, leaving her on her own for days without food or water; Jesus constantly asked the owner to surrender her because he knew the situation would only get worse and one day, the neighbor agreed to give Daisy to him. Both were taken to the vet, had tests done, got their shots, and eventually got spayed.
Halle is a poodle mix, about 5 years old, and weighs about 8.5 kilos. Daisy is a Chihuahua mix about 3 years old and weighs about 5.5 kilos.
Halle and Daisy are best friends and have developed a very strong bond so we feel they should continue living together. They spend their days playing in the backyard, entertaining themselves while sharing their toys.
Halle tends to be picky when she eats so she must be supervised to make sure she eats her food as well as her vitamin supplements. Daisy loves food and we need to make sure she does not get into the other dog’s bowls once she finishes hers. They both get along well with adults, teenagers, and children of all ages. They bark and alert if a stranger approaches the house but are affectionate to their people and love to give and get love. They have not lived with cats, but we could test them if needed. We would love them to go to a family that will continue giving them the love and care they are getting now.
The adoption fee for both Halle and Daisy is $800 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. They can be on a flight to Victoria, BC on February 17th if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for them to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

VERANO
Las Juntas y Los Veranos is a little town south of Puerto Vallarta where the main highway crosses. Houses and stores are lined along the road, too close to traffic. Unfortunately, dogs are allowed to freely roam the place resulting in frequent accidents due to the speed of which the cars go by. There was a construction site where workers were sharing their lunch with two stray dogs. They put some cardboard and old t-shirts in a corner for them to stay the night, but with the construction done, the dogs were left “homeless” as none of the workers were able to take them home with them. They stayed in the area in great danger of being run over, so someone from the town made calls looking for help and Vanessa, a long-time rescuer with a huge heart, was contacted. Although she did not have room in her house to take them in, she still went to pick them up, thinking she would figure out what to do later. She has limited resources, but she had taken the responsibility, so she asked Angel if he could help and thankfully, he agreed. Before moving in, Verano was taken to the vet, where tests were done for the scary illnesses, which fortunately all came back negative. He was malnourished and had ehrlichiosis (caused by ticks), so he was prescribed antibiotics and vitamins to start his health protocol and off he went on the way to a better life.
Verano is a Labrador / Beagle mix, he is about 2 years old and weighs 17 kilos.
Verano is a handsome boy that loves all humans, adults, teenagers, and children alike. We do not know if he gets along with cats, but he can be tested if needed. He gets along with the rest of the dogs in the facility and has no problem sharing his food bowl, toys and sleeping areas with them. He loves his daily walks and sometimes gets too excited when he sees some of his friends and wants to go greet and play with them. He is an active, social, confident, and happy boy. He has learned to sit and wait his turn when food is being served. We think he would do great with an active family and possibly another dog to play with.
The adoption fee for Verano is $550 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Verano to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

CAPULIN
Dogs from a shelter we work with get to go outside on daily walks. It’s such an important thing as they get to explore, smell, and engage in the world. They are usually walked on quiet streets where they can enjoy their exercise and not get distracted with cars or people walking by. One day, as the shelter workers were walking some of the dogs, they saw a backpack sitting on the side of the street that called their attention as it was moving. They approached only to discover there was a distressed little dog inside. They pulled him out and immediately went back to the shelter where they gave him water and offered a quiet, shaded area to relax. After a while and when they saw he had settled, the staff checked him and found out he was covered in fleas and ticks, he was filthy and had rough skin. They could not figure out how long he had been inside the backpack, so they understood why he was scared and untrusting. He was taken to the vet the next day; tests were done for all scary illnesses which fortunately all came back negative. He was given medication for ehrlichiosis, deworming as well as vitamins.
Capulin is a Chihuahua mix, he is approximately 6 years and weighs 4.5 kilos.
Capulin is now a confident little guy that enjoys getting love and attention. He gets along well with people of all ages and does not mind meeting new people when visiting the house. He gets along and plays well with most dogs; however, he was jealous of a specific dog at the shelter which he chose to pick on however, he never got into a serious fight. He can be a bit protective of his food bowl and his favourite toys as he never had any to call his own. He is used to sleeping in his crate however will gladly curl up in bed with his humans. He is very much a cuddler and would love to find a family to call his very own.
The adoption fee for Capulin is $550 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. If you are ready for Capulin to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

PALOMA
Shenny and Yasir were walking their dogs on a popular jogging path, when they saw a dog that seemed to be lost. She appeared sociable, and as she approached they quickly confirmed she was very friendly with people and dogs. All she was interested in was playing. They stayed for a while thinking the owner would come, but after some time and asking people on the path, they were told she had been in the area for days, which made them believe she had been abandoned. During their time with her, other people walked by and ignored her. They knew if they didn’t take her, she would likely remain on that path, searching for help and slowly deteriorating. They didn’t have an extra leash, but the friendly dog did not have a problem following them back to their home, where she knew she was going to be safe – smart girl! She had a dog bite on her back, so they tended to the wound and took her to the vet for the usual tests, to start her on the road to recovery. She had many of the basic challenges, in addition to the infected wound, but this sweet girl made a full recovery.
Paloma is a mixed-breed female, she is about 3 years old and weighs approximately 23 kilos.
Paloma is a very well-behaved girl. She was a bit cautious when she first got in the house, but she settled in and loves being part of a home. Paloma does not seem to get stressed by anything, but isn’t a big fan of fireworks. She loves people of all sizes and very much enjoys her twice-a-day walks. This lovely girl is house trained, and she can be tested with cats if needed. Paloma sleeps in her crate at night and will go in on her own during the day to take naps. She has learned commands such as “sit” and “wait”. Her rescuers/fosters would love her to go to a home where she gets the love and attention she deserves in addition to play time, regular walks and adventures. Please share her album so that her new family knows she is ready and waiting for them!
The adoption fee for Paloma is $550 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Paloma to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

LILLY
It can seem like a never-ending story. As long as some don’t prioritize spaying/neutering and the great need to control reproduction, there will always be neglect and abandonment. This is the story of two puppies that were left on the side of the road in a cardboard box. Neighbors noticed the box and started making calls to ask for help. When Claudia heard about the situation, she did what was needed to take them into care. The first step was a trip to the Vet, where tests were done. Lily tested positive for early-stage parvo and negative for distemper. Treatment was prescribed and fortunately, after some time they knew she beat parvo and was on her way to a bright future.
Lily is a beautiful girl, some kind of mix between big-hearted mutt and stray. She is 8 months old and weighs about 12 kilos.
Lily is a happy puppy who shares food, toys, and sleeping areas with other dogs without any problems. She loves all humans, including new ones. This pup is still young, has lots of energy and loves exploring. Lily does well with children, but after play, she also likes to find her own space to get some peace & quiet. She is learning commands such as “ven” (come), “sientate” (sit), “para alla” (walk away), and of course NO! Lily would do great with an active family with or without young children or teenagers. She loves to fetch and play with toys, so a garden would be great for her to exercise in.
The adoption fee for Lily is $550 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you would like Lily to join your family, please apply on mexpup.com. If you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

SAM
Nayely was walking down the street when she noticed a cardboard box that was moving. Not knowing what she was going to find, she got close and cautiously uncovered two newborn puppies, cold and uncomfortable in such small space. She immediately took them to the shelter and looked for a foster momma who would breast-feed them. Luckily, she was able to find one who nursed them to the point they were able to eat on their own. Once the pups were bigger, they were taken to the Vet and testing showed they were healthy pups.
Sam is a beautiful, highly desirable Mexican mutt. He is about 1.5 years and weighs approximately 23 kilos.
Sam gets along with everybody in the shelter including adults, teenagers, and especially young children, and he very much enjoys welcoming visitors to the place. He reacts well to people visiting the house, but we do not know how he does with cats (we can test if needed). He walks well on leash and when he sees other dogs during his daily walks, he barks at them, but not in an aggressive way. He is not food aggressive and shares toys and a sleeping area with the rest of the dogs. Sam is a very happy dog and is pretty goofy. He nibbles trying to get attention and will gently nibble at your shoelaces, water bottle, pockets etc. He does this in a way that is honestly really cute but will need to be corrected and redirected. He loves kids but anyone with kids too young would maybe not be fit ONLY because we worry that people will mistake his goofy nibbling as Sam biting with intention, which is absolutely NOT the case, he just thinks it’s fun!!! He is used to being with other dogs and typically with a person around most of the time so can get a bit stressed when being left alone for long periods of time so this will just need to be gradually worked up to. He would probably be stoked with a person who worked occasionally from home or if he could be taken to daycare or on pack walks etc. to break up his day. We would probably recommend when leaving him at home alone him having a space that he could chill where exciting objects are out of reach, or we imagine he would likely be very proud to show his human what he has managed to chew for them while they were gone😄 He would do great with an active family and another dog in the house so he can play and burn energy.
The adoption fee for Sam is $500 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found.
If you would like Sam to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected]
DRA SIMI
Dra Simi (Simi for short) is a 2-year-old female terrier mix who is about 10 lb. Simi came into care in the last couple of months because her owner, who was a neighbor of long time dog rescuer Grace, fell ill last year and recently died. She left behind 3 dogs that her husband wanted nothing to do with, and they were chained to the wall outside their house. Initially when neighbors asked Grace to go up and see if she could help with the dogs, she intended to take photos and get a feel for their temperament to see if she could help them get adopted, but after seeing how they were chained to the wall they could not leave them and took all 3 right away.
Simi was immediately very receptive to affection and was furiously kissing Grace before they even got her unchained, but she would periodically go and hide under the sofa at the rescuer’s house for the first day or so, but always happily coming out with her tail wagging when Grace sat and called her. She does still occasionally flinch or cower if you bend over too
quickly to pick her up or leash her but if I just crouch down or sit down, she runs happily onto her lap and then is SO excited to go for walks and explore. She walks great on a leash and connected to her incredibly quickly, she is amazing off leash; she checks in with her constantly and stays by her ankles.
Simi loves dogs and is very playful, she doesn´t seem to mind about size as her three best friends in the house are a 3lb chihuahua, a 20lb mix, and a 50lb shepherd. She is much more playful with male dogs and tends to connect to them easier but she doesn´t have an issue with any of the girls in the house, just seems to like boys more. Simi is very used to cats as the place she was chained up has upwards of 30 cats on that street so would be fine with cats, and hasn´t
really cared about the chickens on the street although she has not been let her off leash while they are running around. She has been perfectly happy letting kids on the Malecon pet her and play with her but we would want any family with kids to be mindful that she does still get stressed when people chase her trying to pick her up very abruptly so any kids would have to understand when she is stressed.
She is perfectly happy in her crate and is pretty much house broken; she has had a couple of pee accidents on blankets or towels that are on the floor which are the texture of a pee pad, but she much prefers to go outside on sand gravel or grass so if she is being taken out enough, we would not anticipate accidents. She is happy enough being left at home, but we would love for her to have another dog as she really does love to curl up with the other dogs and gets a lot of comfort from them. She is not a barker.
The adoption fee for Simi is $600 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Simi to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

CAMILO
Sometimes it is hard to comprehend this level of cruelty in humans, especially done towards innocent animals. Somebody (we reserve the right to call him a special name in private) owns a farm where he raises chickens and had a dog to guard the place since he is not there all the time. The dog did a good job and roamed free on the farm and even though he had no previous history of preying on chickens, one day after days of being left alone without food, desperate and starved, he chased one and killed it to survive. After several days, when the man came back to the farm and saw what had happened, he grabbed the dog and pulled out most of his teeth as punishment and then just threw him out to the street while he was in indescribable pain. A kind soul took him into her house however, she was in town temporarily and was unable to take him with her upon departure. She was looking for help and wanted to make sure the dog would never suffer again so she came to Livia, a long-time rescuer who was at a pet store promoting her rescues up for adoption and asked if she could take Camilo in her care; and after learning his story, Livia immediately agreed but had to place him in the municipal shelter as there were no foster homes available. The dog got depressed in the shelter, he quit eating and hardly got up his bed so as soon as a foster home became available, he was moved. He is thriving in his new place. He has been taken to the vet, tests have been done, shots given and has been neutered.
Camilo is a Shepperd mix male; he is approximately 4 years old and weighs 22 kilos.
Camilo is now a wonderful loving dog, who is physically and mentally healthy. He falls in love with people easily (talk about forgiveness) and gets along well with adults and children. He generally ignores cats but would react to an aggressive cat and some of the dogs he meets on his walks, if they approach him in a threatening way so he is always on a leash when taken out for his daily walks. He ignores cows and horses but tries to chase chickens. He rides well in the car but has not been on long car adventures yet. He likes to interact with people a lot. He gets attached very easily and makes a quick connection. He’s also a fast learner and has shown to adapt to new environments. Camilo has been left alone in the house and does not have destructive behavior, he eats kibble softened in water or broth and loves to get attention and love from his favorite human. He would do great in a home without cats, by himself, or with another dog that is not dominant; that way he can get used to having a companion and not a threat at home.
The adoption fee for Camilo is $500 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Camilo to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

MOOCH
Mooch was wandering the streets of 5 de Diciembre in bad shape. They had never seen him before, and they had lived in the area for a long time. He was emaciated, was missing fur in many places, and simply looked horrible. He was doing all he could to latch onto someone, anyone. He showed how friendly he was by slowly coming up to greet people and/or their dogs with a wagging tail and a friendly posture. When Todd & Patty saw him, it was clear he was on a downward spiral that would speed up each day he remained on the streets. Sadly, their own dogs weren´t keen on this stranger, so while Todd took them home, Patty befriended this sad-looking guy and waited for Todd to return with the car. They immediately got him to the vet to give him a chance at life. We can only assume at some point Mooch had a family. Why he ended up on the streets is unknown, but sadly no one was looking for him. Thankfully Claudia was able to provide a foster home and Mooch began his road to recovery. It took time, but with medicated baths and other treatments, he has fully recovered.
This handsome Lab/ Springer Spaniel mix is about 9 years old and weighs approximately 24 kilos.
Mooch is a lovely gentleman that gets along with all the dogs he meets as well as adults and children of all ages. He is way past his chewing stage and is not food or toy possessive. He behaves very well when walking on a leash and greets visitors with a gentle welcome bark. He has a calm personality and enjoys spending time laying on the grass while watching the world go by. Please help us find this senior boy a loving home where he can relax, get belly rubs and be a part of a family.
The adoption fee for Mooch is $400 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight if a foster or adoptive home is found. Please email [email protected] or submit an application on mexpup.com

SPIDER
They loved animals and got the chance to take in a puppy. They were a loving family with very limited resources. The pup had lots of fun and play time with their kids. After a few months, they were gifted another pup (MexPup Mary Jane). The pups didn’t have much structure as they were allowed outside to walk themselves (and to rummage through the trash), but they did have lots of love and positive interactions at home. As time progressed, the basic needs of the pups proved too much for the family, and they asked for help. Thankfully, we were able to get both dogs into care which started with basic testing, anti-parasite medication, and eventually vaccines.
Spider is a handsome mixed-breed male (we think he has a bit of Doberman in him); he is 1.4 years old and weighs approximately 15.9 kilos.
Spider gets along well with all humans, that is adults, teenagers, and young children alike, and reacts well to new people who visit the shelter. He is comfortable and does well with cats. He has not shown signs of aggression towards other dogs when eating, playing with toys, or sharing his sleeping area. He does well with smaller dogs, but some big dogs make him nervous, and he can get territorial with those specific pups. He is past the puppy chewing phase so he can be left home alone however, if there is another big dog in the house they need to be left in different areas. He knows commands such as “ven” (come), “sientate” (sit), “vamos” (let’s go), and of course NO! Spider would do great with an active family with young children or teenagers since he likes to play and is so great with kids. He loves to fetch, to play with all types of toys, and very much enjoys water adventures.
The adoption fee for Spider is $550 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you would like Spider to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

PEPE LE PEW
People living in neighborhoods where dogs wander around in the streets, know which dogs have families and will eventually go back home. When a new dog appears, those who care take notice and it was clear to them that this little guy needed help. Looking for solutions isn’t easy, especially if you don’t have space or resources to help, but those with big hearts do all they can to find ways to make a difference. Thankfully, they were able to get in contact with Claudia and she agreed to help. When they found the pup, what they had been told was proven correct. He was malnourished, weak, filthy, and infested with ticks and fleas, so the first stop was the Vet’s office where tests were done, and the health protocol started. Fortunately, he tested negative for parvo and distemper, but Giardia infection was present, so treatment was given and his new chance at life began.
Pepe le Pew is a 9-month-old handsome black mutt who weighs about 19.6 kilos.
Pepe le Pew is a confident pup and isn’t bothered by loud noises such as traffic or thunder. He walks very well on the leash while on his daily walks and reacts well when other dogs or cats cross paths with him. He is a playful little guy who wants to enjoy life, explore, and have people to love. Pepe does well with humans of all sizes and is also good with dogs & cats. He has not shown signs of food or toy aggression and very much enjoys his playtime with the rest of the dogs in the shelter. He is learning commands such as “ven” (come), “sientate” (sit), and or course, no! He is medium energy pup that would do well in most homes (with or without children), and a small yard for him would certainly be a plus.
The adoption fee for Pepe le Pew is $550 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Pepe le Pew to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

RENATO
Some people do not realize that puppies are a handful. They are very active, like to chew, go to the bathroom wherever and need to be trained, etc. A family got a purebred dog, probably thinking it would look nice to have him at home, but they did not think of the implications that came with it. The only person staying at home full time was an elderly lady who took good care of him, but she could not keep up with the hyperactive puppy, so the family reached out for help to rehome him. Thankfully Nayeli was able to make space and took him to the shelter where she knew he would be happy having so many friends to play with and burn his energy. He was in good health and after tests for scary illnesses were done (all negative), he became a resident of the shelter.
Renato is a Pug; he is about a year old and weighs approximately 9.6 kilos.
Renato is still very active and loves to play with the rest of the dogs in the shelter. He loves people and children of all ages, and he enjoys very much his daily walks (he does well on the leash). He is a happy puppy with no issues about sharing his food, toys, or sleeping area and when he sees cats, he barks but then continues his favourite activity which is playing. He does not like being by himself so a home with other dog(s) and/or children would be ideal. He does not know commands right now and they are working on his potty training, but he is smart, and we are sure he will learn quickly.
The adoption fee for Renato is $600 and includes flight, neuter, vaccines, and full vetting. He can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Renato to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

ODIN
Most of the time, people reach out to the shelter to ask for help with dogs but in this case, she was the one offering help. She could not ignore this little female dog running around the streets from place to place and being chased by dogs whenever she was in heat. That was the life this homeless dog was facing, with no hope until Nayeli asked around to see if there was an owner. People told her she was a stray so without further thought she took her, and she became a resident of the shelter. She was taken to the vet and had all tests for scary illnesses done which came back negative. She was given a deworming pill and was prescribed vitamins to treat her malnutrition. A very much-needed wash was done, and she started her health protocol, this time facing a brighter future.
Odin is a Chihuahua mix female; she is approximately 2-3 years old and weighs about 3 kilos.
Odin is the most adorable little girl; she gets along with adults and children alike, but she does not like certain cats (will have to be tested with them). When you first meet her, she seems to be afraid and quite shy. If a stranger tries to hold her, she will show her teeth as a warning without trying to bite, maybe due to her insecurities having been a stray. She also stresses when someone she is not familiar with, will chase her. Once she knows the person, her loving side will fully develop, and she will be the happy little girl you want to be part of the family. She walks well on a leash but can be intimidated by other dogs crossing her path and is afraid of traffic. Her foster mom is currently working on her potty training. She gets along well with other dogs and doesn’t mind sharing her food, toys, or sleeping area with them. Since she is in general shy and low energy, we think a home without small children that is slow-paced, with another dog like her, or even being the only dog would be ideal for her. She would love to be carried when going out and spend afternoons watching TV.
The adoption fee for Odin is $600 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. If you are ready for Odin to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

BELLA
Laura was coming out of a restaurant and saw a tiny dog running around in heavy traffic. The dog was disoriented, dodging cars, and seemed to be following a young boy crossing the street; Laura yelled at him so he would notice the pup following him and he just nodded saying the dog was not his, and continued walking. At that point, a car almost ran over the pup and Laura jumped to the middle of the street to stop the traffic, however, she was unable to grab the scared dog that ran to the other side of the street. After a few minutes of trying to grab her, Laura remembered she had steak in the to-go box and offered some which immediately caught the pup’s attention. She was skinny and seemed like she had not eaten for days so food was a great incentive for her to make friends. After a good meal, Laura took her home and washed her; she was filthy and full of ticks and fleas so after a nice warm bath and feeling secure, she fell asleep in no time. The next day she was taken to the vet where tests for scary illnesses were done (all negative) and she was ready to start treatment & the health protocol. Laura put flyers out and posted her on social media and the (irresponsible) owners never came forward, so Laura was sure the pup was just one more of the dogs that is abandoned after they are no longer cute puppies.
Bella is a beautiful chihuahua about 2 years old and weighs about 3.5 kilos.
Bella gets along well with small and big dogs, and she is a love bug. She learned very fast what it means to be taken care of and to be part of a family. She LOVES it. She is a very grateful girl who loves to give kisses when she first gets up in the morning (and continues doing it ALL DAY LONG). She hardly barks but will squeak to attract attention. She wants to be part of the pack but is still shy about socializing with other dogs. She prefers to sit and watch them play most of the time. She loves her daily walks and gets very excited when she sees the leash. She has also learned when it’s time for bed (she sleeps on the bed with her fosters) and she’s done very well with potty training.
The adoption fee for Bella is $600 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you are ready for Bella to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

NALA
A beautiful dog was running thru the streets disoriented, looking for shelter and trying to hide from her abusive owner who would hit her for the slightest reason. A kind neighbor allowed her in their house and went talk to the owner who said he did not want her and was happy to surrender her. The lady tucked her into a nice comfy bed to spend the night and the next day started searching for help; Adriana stepped up and took the dog, got her to the Vet where she got checked, was tested, and given a very much needed wash.
Nala is a sweet beautiful American Pitbull Terrier female dog, about 2 years old and weights approximately 21 kilos.
Nala is just a big cuddly girl; she is affectionate, sweet and loves to welcome people visiting the house. She likes adult women however, based in her story of abuse, it’s not surprising that she does not initially trust adult males and needs time to warm up to them. She enjoys the company of teenagers and children but does not like cats. She gets scared at loud noises (again, past abuse) and is just learning to enjoy car rides. She is not food possessive and will share toys with the other two dogs in her foster home. She loves exercise, her daily walks, and walks well on leash. She has stayed home for long periods of time and is not destructive. Because of her size and being a bit rough when playing, a family with no small children would be best, however, having a sibling dog she can play with, would be ideal.
The adoption fee for Nala is $500 and includes flight, spay, vaccines and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you would like to adopt Nala you can apply at mexpup.com or email [email protected] to get more information.

WENDY
We wish we knew where this pregnant and scared dog came from, but when Nayeli found her on the street, desperately looking for food and water, nobody seemed to know her. After asking around the neighborhood for days, she was sure she was either lost or had been dumped far away from where she lived so she would not find her way back. Nayeli welcomed her to the shelter where she eventually had her puppies. She was taken to the vet where her health protocol was initiated. No scary illnesses were present, deworming and shots were given and eventually, she was spayed.
Wendy is a lovely dachshund mix; she is approximately 3+ years old and weighs 6.7 kilos. She is a bit overweight and will need help getting her weight down.
Wendy was very scared when she was first brought into the shelter. She did not know what was going on and she was protective of herself & her unborn pups, so she would try to bite whoever came close to her. After a few weeks of knowing she was in a safe place, she relaxed and by the time her puppies were born, she was a different dog; confident, loving, and relaxed. She gets along well with adults and children as well as the rest of the dogs in the shelter. She shares toys and sleeping areas with other dogs and while she was food-aggressive at first, she is relaxed now and does not react when other dogs get close to her bowl while she is eating. Wendy walks well on a leash and very much enjoys her daily walks outside the shelter. She has become a very loving girl who wants to be petted by whoever is willing to give her some love in fact, if visitors come to the shelter, she barks to call their attention and is very happy only when they come to say hi.
The adoption fee for Wendy is $550 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you would like Wendy to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].

COFFEE
Vanessa is a long-time rescuer and can’t help herself but be aware and ready to help when she sees a dog in distress. One day, she saw two female dogs walking around her neighborhood whom she had not seen before, and she assumed they were lost. She took them into her house and started posting flyers around the area and posting on social media thinking their owner would come forward to get them back. Days went by and no one contacted her. Finally, a neighbor told her she knew where they lived, so she got in touch with the people only to find out they were not interested in keeping their dogs. She decided to care for them until they were ready to get adopted but unfortunately one of them passed back in April due to cancer and heart failure. Coffee missed her friend dearly and was not doing very well, so Vanessa decided to wait a few months to help her through her mourning process. Coffee is doing well now and is ready to have a family to call her own.
Coffee is a beautiful mixed-breed female; she is approximately 3 years old and weighs 15 kilos.
Coffee is quite social and gets along well with adults, teenagers, and children. She probably had to fight for her food so she could be food-possessive if other dogs get close to her bowl when she is eating. She gets along well with other dogs in the shelter but sometimes barks at other dogs like telling them off (as a strict momma would do) when they are invasive of her space and privacy. She does not do well with cats and chases them. She loves to play, and the trainer defined her as a stable and balanced dog. She walks well on a leash and loves going out on adventures. She would do great with a family with only adults or adults and teenagers and children alike. She is the best companion for daily walks or a relaxing afternoon watching TV.
The adoption fee for Coffee is $500 and includes flight, spay, vaccines, and full vetting. She can be on a flight, if a foster or adoptive home is found. If you would like Coffee to join your family, please submit an application on mexpup.com or, if you have any questions or need more information you can email [email protected].
